STRAVINSKY Violin Concerto in D major
BERLIOZ Symphonie fantastique, Op.14
This concert includes two exuberant musical fantasies, conjured up from the imagination of their composers. We know The Sorcerer’s Apprentice from Walt Disney’s magical Fantasia, and in the Symphonie Fantastique, we luxuriate in the composer’s indulgent contemplation of the ups and downs of love. Acting as a sorbet between them is Stravinsky’s sparkling Violin Concerto.
