60th Anniversary

This Thursday marks the 59th Anniversary of the opening of Disneyland in 1955. Disney have already stated that they will be unveiling their plans for next year's 60th Anniversary celebration, so I'm setting up this thread now for us to discuss. I'll post any press releases here when they come out - probably Friday morning.

Well, the press launch for the 60th Anniversary was pretty underwhelming as it appears that Disney have now decided to drip feed information for the 60th over the next year, rather than unveil everything at once (a bit disappointing as they had even said on their Disney Parks Blog a few weeks ago that they'd unveil their plans for the 60th celebration today!)
They did launch the 60th Anniversary logo and a photo competition (open only to US residents), but no other announcements.
Here is the logo:
Diamonds are the theme given it is the diamond anniversary. We'll just have to wait to see what else is in store for us!

It is a very good design. One of their better efforts. There will obviously be a lot of diamond-motif merchandise next year!

Tomorrow, the Disneyland Resort will unveil their plans for the 60th Anniversary celebrations at Disneyland.
News should start to filter out tomorrow afternoon and I'll compile as much as I can here once I get home from work!

New Paint the Night Parade
New Fireworks
Castle and Carthay Circle makeover.

urghh.... I really want to go to see this .... I vowed seeing as I missed the 50th that I'd be at the 60th... but unless something drastic happens... nup

How cool is that? I've seen some great shots of the hatbox ghost on FB by some local photogs that frequent the park...
would really love to get a shot of him .

Join us at the club meeting on the 27th for a special update on the 60th anniversary from members who will have just returned from the anniversary.
Did anyone watch the live stream of the anniversary this weekend.

I watched little bits of the Main Street webcam from time to time. I did see saw great YouTube videos of the new fireworks, parade and World of Color. They all looked pretty good.

I also watch a little bit.... was sooooo wishing I could have been there.
I love the look of Paint the Night parade... I hope it stays a while so I get to see it.

I'm pretty sure it is going to be a long term stayer, so you should be okay to see it. Of course, you can always go up to Hong Kong to see it there!

Oh, I didn't know it was also in Hong Kong .... still need to tick that one off my list, so will have to pencil it in at some point.
