Disneyland, DCA and Hollywood 2014

Take 2 ... lol.... typed out a long and involved itinerary and update on Sat and the browser crashed...

So , a quick update and itinerary.

After much consideration, and consultation we decided that the provided prize accom was just not a safe option for two girls traveling alone ( a motor Inn in the back blocks of Hollywood) so have booked our own accom and are staying in Anaheim the whole trip. We booked the Best Western so we can be close to everything.

I'm also undecided about doing a separate blog as I am still sharing my daughters laptop as I have been unable to make the internet work since buying a new laptop. Am thinking I'll just update here and on FB - but if I change my mind, I'll post a link.

So, the itinerary looks something like this:

Feb 3 - Depart, Arrive and shop/movie? at DTD.

Feb 4 - Shopping and a tour of the Napoleon Perdis headquarters/makeup school ( the prize component of the trip - dependent on whether their driver will pick us up from an alternative accom - which going by how unco-operative they've been so far, they may not)

Feb 5 - Hop on/Hop Off bus tour of Hollywood/Santa Monica and a visit to the Tar Pits.

Feb 6 - Disneyland with early entry... first visit for the Divine Miss M to the original park.

Feb 7 - Outlet shopping.... allllllll day.

Feb 8 - DCA. Although, I've read today that MiceChat will be doing their scavenger hunt here this day so it could be a bit more crowded than we'd anticipated which has thrown our plan out the window. This will be our only chance to see WOC so will have to put up with it.

Feb 9 - Disneyland - again, MiceChat are doing a 'day' at the park here as well so many consider swapping which days we visit the parks yet.

Feb 10 - DCA for most of the day and then depart for the airport late afternoon for a midnight flight back home.

As a little aside - my son and his girlfriend are, as I type, taxiing out to the runway on their way to LA/New Orleans and both their first trips to the Original Disneyland. (Zach has been to Tokyo as a primary schooler). We had a 'how to do Disneyland' session a few nights ago to bring them up to speed on FP, 'must eats', rope drop and what to ride first - to name just a few things. Was lovely that my obsession is finally 'useful' to them ;)

I'll also be posting photos to instagram as gypsyfeet66 so follow along if you like :)

I'm surprised your daughter allowed you so much time in the parks.

LOL...' she who is paying for everything except the airfares, gets a big say ;) '

And Miss M is coming around to the Disney fold, so she hasn't even complained this time -/ she's even been pre-choosing which fluffies she is on the look out for - and she is NOT a fluffy girl by any stretch.

Itinerary update:

switching the Sat/Sun Disney days to avoid the Micechat mayhem. We've also decided against hopper passes to both save a few $ and to help keep Miss M happy.

I just had a good laugh at Lisa's last blog update before she flew out. Given that all is quiet since she arrived in LA, I can only assume she is having too much fun to update her blog!

Either that or the wifi ain't working LOL

Thanks for your blog posts Lisa - I loved your first day in Disney update!

It is amazing how much Disneyland changes - it is not that long ago since I was there, but all your photos (except the Partners statue) are of things that weren't there when I went! Thor, Ironman, Olaf, Valentines Day stuff, Mardi Gras - I've never seen any of that!

Thanks Keith... yep, it amazes me that every single time I'm there, so much is different.

I'll endeavour to update the rest of the trip in the next couple of days now that I'm home. Disneyland in Feb is so different than at peak time and a lot is boarded up and being renovated. The good news was, we were there the day that the Dole Whip reno's were being tested out, so I did get a Dole Whip. -/

I had so much trouble with the wifi at the hotel that I often spent literally hours trying and retrying to get online. Some days I was just too tired to go through all that and gave up. They clearly have changed their providers because when we stayed there 18 months ago, it was fantastic and never had problems with it dropping out at all, let alone not being able to get connected at all.

now that I'm home.
Wow - you are back already! So did you buy merchandise? I'm glad you got the Dole Whip.

Yes - once Christmas is over Disneyland does go into refurb mode as it prepares for the summer, but I guess the crowds are down at that time of the year.

Glad you are back safely and can't wait to read all about the remaining days!
