Day trip from a Disneyland base.

Postby mushu mama » Fri Jan 10, 2014 7:29 am

Just a quick question for anyone else who may have done the Hop on/Hop off bus tour through LA.

We're wanting to do a day touring the Hollywood area on the hop on/hop off bus routes but I haven't been able to find out the easiest way to connect to the routes from our base in Anaheim.

Has anyone else done this from their Disney base and how/where is the easiest place to connect up with the route?
We won't have a car, so we'll have to either public bus or taxi to the closest point. But trying to decide where and how has proved troublesome.

Any advice?

Hmmm - not sure if Anaheim is the easiest place to do that from - it is quite a way from LA and the public transport isn't the greatest. I hired a car to do that sort of thing when I went with my Dad.

Coach USA do LA Tours from Anaheim but I don't think they do a Hop On/Hop Off service but you might want to check with them.

If the hop on hop off goes via the airport you could use the Disney express

you could use the Disney express
That might be a good option. You could then get a bus or taxi from LAX to Hollywood Blvd and pick up the hop-on/hop-off service from there. At the end of the day, get a taxi back to LAX and the Disneyland Express back to Anaheim. It is not the cheapest, but it will certainly work without too much stress.

The bus had a stop outside our hotel at Santa Monica so that might be closer to the airport. You'd have to look at the route and find the closest stop to the airport

Thanks guys, yep, its looking like a bit of a round about trip, but Millie wants to go to the Tar Pits which is on the route so am trying to find out the best way. All the maps I've come across haven't been all that clear about the exact stop points so I've struggled to figure out the best place to connect to it. It does seem to be something best done from LA or Hollywood. Anyhoo.. thanks for the input :)

How is the trip planning progressing Lisa? What day do you go - where are you staying - how long are you going for etc etc - it is getting close, so now we need details :)
