It is quiet around here today now that our intrepid adventurers are heading to Sydney to fly out tonight!

Meanwhile, Anthony is driving from San Francisco to Anaheim in some of the worst weather to hit Southern California in many years!

Oh well, at least the sun will come out this weekend for them all!

Be safe Anthony!

I've been thinking about the lucky winners all day today. I wonder what activities are going to be on the flight. Geez I'm glad I have a trip coming up otherwise this little guy would be taking over

Seeing as there has been a bit of talk about the rough weather and tornado in California, thought I'd pass on some info I just received from my friend currently in DL.

"we were in LA on the hollywood tour when the tornado hit - it was just south of anaheim and was really just a waterspout that came ashore momentarily. They are really going on about how bad the weather is here but they don't know what rain is. They complain (and it floods) when they get 2" in a day - we get that in an hour in landsborough."

Apparently they got totally soaked in DL today thanks to the rain, but seeing as us QLDers are used to heavy rain, they were undaunted and had the best day of no-wait rides and light crowds. So the weather will definitely have its upside for the travellers.

Thanks for that Lisa. We just saw the footage of flooding on the news, but I guess if they aren't use to it, a little would seem like a lot and their rainwater system looks like it fell apart!

Your friends sound like they took good advantage of it :)

Funny thing is - I was reading all the tales of doom and the end of the earth on Micechat this week and I was thinking the same thing. What they are getting is just like the typical Sydney summer afternoon storm where it dumps a week's worth in an hour :D

The rain was a decent rainfall for sure, but the freeway was still running regardless. The thing with it was it just kept coming and didn't let up at all.

OMG.... just read your update ajp... I take it all back... SNOW!!!!????

Kudos for making the trip in that weather... that must have been pretty scary.

Loved the photos from San Fran... Really want to go there someday. And the photos in the snowfall are kind of trippy cos I never think of snow when I am thinking of that part of the world.

And Hooly Dooly... you sure have some luggage stacked in that car. you'll need a truck to get home from the airport I think. Good job... clearly you have upheld the 'code' of stocking up on Disney treasures.

Indeed Anthony - that is a great haul of goodies you've collected. You'll have to let us know whether you end up getting that ninth piece of checked luggage and exert your rights as a Qantas Club member for it!

The snow photos were brilliant - but I agree with Lisa - it looked scary too! Especially driving on the wrong side of the road, in an unfamiliar car, in an unfamiliar part of the world, in bad visibility! My hat is off to you!

It was a bit of a hairy ride and one that I don't want to do again in a hurry, but we went OK and got through it. It definitely was an experience.

We're still adding to our collection too. That 9th bag will be a given now after today's haul. I'll need to go as big as we can and get away with because I feel there will be a little more coming in the days ahead too.

Wow - you could be getting close to that tipping point where you have to search for a parcel service and begin shipping stuff home. If you do have to ship - send all you old clothes home - that way it doesn't matter if they go missing.
