Name of Restaurant: Blue Bayou

Location of Restaurant: Disneyland - New Orleans Square

Time of visit (breakfast, lunch, dinner?): Lunch

Food service (take away, buffet, al-a-carte etc?): Al-a-carte

Type of Food: Creole/American

Food Rating (1 being bad - 5 being awesome): 2.5

Ambiance Rating (1 being bad - 5 being awesome): 5

Character Dining Option? No

Approximate price of main meal: $20

What would you recommend: Not the Monte Crisco Sandwich - sounds nice in the same way a deep fried mars bar does but doesn't live up to the hype. Face it you are here for the view not the food.

Can anyone suggest the best time to book a lunchtime ADR at Blue Bayou to ensure a seat by the water? And has anyone had the Monte Christo?

I've read that when you go to book in you can request it and then you're asked to wait a while. We didn't sit on the water, but we were a row away from it, and it was fine. The ride boats are quite a distance away from the restaurant, so unless you're right up near the toilets or kitchen, a water view is possible from most places. We'd go back, but as Sandie said, you don't necessarily go for the food, but it does beat burger and fries with the masses.

Monte Christo?
Oh I have - don't do it unless you feel you must!

Super thick sugary bread with ham and cheese in side dipped in fish and chip like batter - deep fried and served with jam!!!!! I almost finished two bites - it was all I could muster

I stood out the front of this restaurant and looked at the menu and saw Monte Cristo sandwich and couldn't remember if it was something that was supposed to be good or not good..... so I walked down the road and had gumbo....
I think it sounds like something I'd like though...

Oh well.... next time.

I believe there is another restaurant in New Orleans Square that does Monte Christos too but supposedly cheaper!

My mother had the Monte Cristo in 87 so when we were in Disneyland Last week she had to have it again. It is the most horific made in america meal I have ever seen. It has a following, almost like an attraction in itself.

We shared 1 between 2, and still we couldn't finish.

Yes I had my first MC last October. It certainly was an experience but we really liked the Gumbo for starters which you can't buy separately. The boys also enjoyed getting the dessert that comes with a sugar treasure chest - we still have them!

Name of Restaurant: Steakhouse 55

Location of Restaurant: Disneyland Hotel

Time of visit (breakfast, lunch, dinner?): Dinner

Food service (take away, buffet, al-a-carte etc?): Al-a-carte

Type of Food: Steak primarily

Food Rating (1 being bad - 5 being awesome): 3.5

Ambiance Rating (1 being bad - 5 being awesome): 3

Character Dining Option? No

Approximate price of main meal: $30+

What would you recommend: Steak, it's what they say they do and they do it pretty good.

Any other comments: We were lucky in that we didn't actually pay for this meal, we had vouchers because of issues with the concierge services. We liked it, but not sure I would have done it normally or will do it again.

Name of Restaurant: Storyteller's Cafe

Location of Restaurant: Grand Californian Hotel

Time of visit (breakfast, lunch, dinner?): Breakfast

Food service (take away, buffet, al-a-carte etc?): Buffet

Type of Food: Traditional hot and continental buffet with fruit

Food Rating (1 being bad - 5 being awesome): 4

Ambiance Rating (1 being bad - 5 being awesome): 4.5

Character Dining Option? Yes

Approximate price of main meal: Not sure, around $24

What would you recommend: The Eggs Benedict

Any other comments: A very relaxing Californian national park setting in line with the them of the hotel. The food here is some of the better breakfast buffet food I've had with some good characters, although the character interaction is not the best. If you want decent food, I recommend, if you specifically want character interaction, go elsewhere.

Name of Restaurant: Disney's PCH Grill

Location of Restaurant: Paradise Pier Hotel

Time of visit (breakfast, lunch, dinner?): Breakfast

Food service (take away, buffet, al-a-carte etc?): Buffet

Type of Food: Standard American breakfast fare

Food Rating (1 being bad - 5 being awesome): 3.5

Ambiance Rating (1 being bad - 5 being awesome): 4

Character Dining Option? Yes

Approximate price of main meal: Same as all buffets, around $24 or so.

What would you recommend: Smoked Salmon was nice, but there wasn't much that stood out

Any other comments: Very good character interaction and a nice relaxing setting. Hawaiin or Pacific Island theme was pleasant and not over done. Great for the young kids as they do a lot of dancing and playing with the kids and characters.

Food Rating (1 being bad - 5 being awesome): 3

Ambiance Rating (1 being bad - 5 being awesome): 3.5

Approximate price of main meal: $20

What would you recommend: Pizza was good and the hamburgers were huge

Any other comments: You're in the hotel room, trying to decide what to have for dinner, and everyone cannot be bothered going out because you're tired or it's wet and cold. This is a good option when you feel like that and you won't be disappointed either. Ambiance not quite the same as breakfast but relaxing still and service is good. Price is not too bad either, we managed to feed 4 of us for less than $80.
