Hey... there's a thought... maybe I could do a 'live from DL - as I go' kind of trip report...
Now thats a great idea. I was looking at the HoJo site today, and it did say free internet into every room. So there you go!

2023 Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Lines - Disney Wish. Going to be awesome to be back!

If you're going end August/start of September go and see the NASCAR for us and report back on what it's like.
Lisa - this is perfect. The Pepsi 500 NASCAR race is on the 31st of August - just up the road at Fontana, in LA's eastern suburbs... You could be our live reporter - don't forget your laptop...

Kind of - Advanced Dining Reservation means you book a time but you don't necessarily get to sit at that time but when the next table becomes available you get it before a walk-up and at busy times they won't allow any walk ups.

In DL you can make ADRs 60 day in advance but in WDW it is 180 days. This means you have to plan in detail a long way out from your trip if you want to eat at a particular restaurant!

Yep.... Nascar is right up there on my list of things to do while in America.

I will have the laptop though, so you will likely hear something from me while I am there. I've been leaning towards Hojo because of the free wireless. Still undecided because of how far it is from the gates.

So for future reference do you need to set up something with your provider here to use free wireless o/s

Not that I know of, but then I haven't looked into that stuff all that much yet. As far as I know, if your laptop is wireless capable then you just turn it on ( ensuring your are in wireless mode), click on the internet connection and then choose the wireless network that you want. ie: if you are staying somewhere that offers wireless connection then you would click on that hotel's link (fee or no fee) and away you go.

I've only used it wireless once and thats what I did.

I'm sure there are more computer savvy people than me able to tell you this stuff lurking around here though so if I'm wrong feel free to correct me guys.

That's pretty well it Lisa. Sometimes you pay a fee, sometimes it's free. When you open IE it normally goes straight to the page of the provider that is offering the service and then they either ask for your credit card details or just let you get on your way and surfing. Then the world is your oyster.

Just double check the HoJo site Lisa, because I don't recall mention of wireless, they mention a broadband plug connection in the room, which in my mind is better anyway, because wireless sometimes has dropouts. But either way it doesn't matter, they still say it's free so that's the important part. Not sure about a wireless connection in DL or DTD.

But another option is to get a mobile broadband card from over there on a prepaid basis (Much like our own Next G turbo cards or the Vodafone boradband cards etc). They normally plug straight into the PCMS slot and let you surf for as long as you've paid for, wherever you are. Something else to consider. I can't see them being expensive and you should be able to get them from anywhere even convenience stores I reckon (but I am only guessing on that point).

now that sounds interesting too. Would that theoretically allow wireless anywhere then? That'd be interesting cos then I wouldn't be so limited in the choice of lodgings.
Anyone know more about that?

I would be surprised if there weren't at least one wireless hotspot in DTD. Anyone know of any?

oh... and another property to provide free internet access is the Best Western (Stovall or something).

That's where I stayed in '05 - the free internet there must be new. I bet all the hotels on harbor Blvd will offer it soon, which is great.
