We were at my in-laws last weekend, and they dragged out an old map from their cupboard while they were cleaning. They were going to toss it and asked if we'd like it, and as soon as I saw it I grabbed it. My father-in-law has been back and forth from the US since 1959 working with QANTAS and visited DL for the first time in 1959.
What they had was a map of Disneyland that was issued in 1958. It is huge at approx 5ft by 3ft. It's not like the maps we get now, the little fold out ones, it's like something you would buy as a souvenier. We intend to have it mounted on a board and framed properly. The fold lines are very pronounced, and there is an odd small tear along those lines, but asied from that it's in fantastic condition. It's incredible to look at it and see how much things have changed, even since 1958, because things even changed from 55 till then as well. It was a great find, and one I'll be holding onto for quite some time.
