Disney Keepsakes

Postby KeithS » Sat Jun 11, 2005 10:44 am

For any of you who bought the wonderful blue boxed collection titled "The Disney Treasures" that was released a couple of years ago, you may be interested to know that a second volume is on its way.

This time titled "The Disney Keepsakes" - it comes in a red box, similarly styled to the original volume. It is currently listed for a September 2005 release, however there is no details on the contents. The box states "Contains Never Before Published Removable Memorabilia"

It is available for preorder at Amazon:

This looks fantastic. I'd never even heard of the original and now I have 2 I need to find the money for. :D It's too bad that we don't qualify for the "super saver free shipping" from Amazon.

Maybe I should have a few links on our site to some amazon books and try and make some money for the club?

I just found this site that seems to have a pretty exhaustive list of upcoming Disney books.

The original Disney Treasures was distributed in Australia through Dymocks book stores. In their Sydney store last year, they were selling them for $29.95! MUCH cheaper than in the US, and way cheaper than the second hand ones selling on Ebay!

I think they must have bought a bulk lot of them, as they had them stacked up in the store. I haven't seen them locally for a while, but I haven't been looking. If I see it in the City this week, I'll post a message.

I just had a hunt around the Dymocks web site and they don't list it but they do list a number of other books I wouldn't mind adding to my library. unfortunately I have expensive tastes and they all seem to be in the $50 + category. :D

I had a hunt around Sydney stores during the week.

Dymocks no longer had any copies, but Borders bookstore in Pitt Street and Kinokuniya bookstore in George Street both had copies for $59.99 each.

There is a Borders in Albert Street Brisbane - they might have a copy there.

Looks like all the cheap ones have gone!

The Disney Treasures

Postby KeithS » Fri Jul 28, 2006 7:44 pm

I have talked about The Disney Treasures in the past and talked about how they retail for around $50+

Well this week, if you go to your local ALDI store, you can pick up this magnificent volume for $19.95 - it is a real must for Disney fans.

Get out there and grab a copy while stocks last - they'll disappear fairly quickly.

Got two for $40 in Aldi. One to look at and one to keep wrapped in plastic. It must be the first "collectible" that I've ever bothered to keep wrapped up but at that price I figured I couldn't pass it up.

Amazing books with all the "removable memorabilia".

And get this Greg, when we were in the WD archives, we actually ran into the author, Robert Tieman (I took a photo of his office too...!!)

If only I had something I could have gotten signed...a bit hard to carry those boxes around on holidays though :)

I can appreciate that. I once bought an enormous hard cover book in my first week in a place and then spent the next two months carrying it around in a pack. I got it because I wasn't sure I would be able to get back to the place again but it turns out I did and wasted all that energy.

You'll have to give me a second while I imagine having an office in the Disney archives...

The Mickey Mouse Treasures

Postby KeithS » Tue Nov 28, 2006 8:28 pm

Wow - here is a new release that may be of interest - especially if you already have Robert Tieman's previous box-set releases as mentioned in earlier messages.

He is currently working on a new boxed set titled The Mickey Mouse Treasures - it will be in the same format as the previous Disney archive books, with pull out bits and pieces. The new book will not be available until August 2007, but it is already listed on Amazon for pre-order.

I really enjoy these sets and highly recommend them to fans.
