New Ducktales

Tue Aug 15, 2017 7:53 pm

I just finished watching the first two episodes of the new Ducktales series.

I really wanted to like it because I'm a huge Scrooge fan but I also didn't want to like it because the nephews have distinct personalities and because of the style of animation.

I really liked it.

Oooh, where is this?  I need to see it.  I loved the original Ducktales.  I have the DVDs at home and the kids all love them too - timeless :)

You can find the first episode on Youtube (or Google Play but I'm not sure about if in Australia or not). So far that's all that's been aired.

After watching the next couple of episodes I'm liking it even more. Webby is a much more interesting character this time around and a lot less whiny than the original character.

I'm still coming to grips with the individual nephew characters.

The last episode didn't even have Scrooge appear which may be considered a bit risky but having episodes that are not all "mystical treasures in exotic locations" will enable them to keep that sort of story fresher than the "treasure of the week" would.

Still prefer the original version of the theme song but the animation style is growing on me and the opening credits are good.

It is never something that ever crossed my radar in the original or new versions.  One day I'll try and give it a go...

I'm shocked Keith, shocked I tell ya !

Really, it is worth a look or, if you want the best taste of Scrooge and all that is great about him, then you need to find the original Bark's comics or the Rosa ones. I'll buy you lunch if you read the comics and aren't impressed.
