Kachow! I wont say any more until more people have seen it.
My plans to see it Friday and then Saturday were sidetracked by my boss. I will be going to see it (whats the time now?) Oh, sometime today. Can't wait.

I saw Cars on Friday and although I thought it was great, I think I'll need to see it again to really form a solid opinion.

It took me a while to warm to the cars themselves but the animation must have been convinving as for the next several hours I kept waiting for every passing car to talk!

I'll be curious to see how it does in the US as I suspect a lot of the humour would do even better in the states than here (my limited NASCAR knowledge probably didn't help either).

Kachow!

I've always talked to my car (but it hasn't talked back yet - I live in hope!)

For me though, I was hooked by this movie from the start, but that is probably because of my Nascar fan background. Those opening race scenes had me hooked - and the commentary was full of Nascar jokes for those familiar with the proper broadcasts on Foxsports - I loved it.
SEEN IT - LOVED IT - GOING AGAIN TOMORROW!
I'm tempted to go again tomorrow too - might try and take my dad along, he loves Nascar as well! Either that, or I might go out "tipping tractors" :D

You beat me to it, I was just going to say how great the music for this movie was - by far my favourite Pixar soundtrack! Loved the songs - they were just perfectly placed to get you excited, revved up, nostalgic, happy, sad, the whole works...

Sorry Keith, didn't mean to steal your thunder (or lightning :) ).

I have only downloaded a few of the tracks so far. The toss up for my favourite would be between 'Route 66' or 'Real Gone'. Love them both.

I just got back from seeing Cars the second time and now I can RAVE about it!

Not sure if I was in a bad mood or half asleep the first time but I it's now ranking as one of my top 3 Pixar films. Definitely agree this is the best Pixar soundtrack so far as well.

An added bonus at this screening at Bondi Junction was the Ratatouile trailer! Has anyone else seen it yet? Not much plot is revealed (like most pixar trailers this far out) but the animation looks great. Only a glimpse of a human character's arm but looks like the syling may be similar to The Incredibles but with softer edges. BTW, the rat looks quite lovable for all those scared of rats out there :-)

Hiya Mike, Yep, I must have watched it a few too many times - When the trailer was on the screen, I was saying the rats lines - but was brought back to reality by a sharp dig in the ribs from each of my kids on either side of me

Yeah, he's cute. But anything set in France gets my vote anyway! :)
I did notice they did a good job of the rats fur - I guess after animating Sulleys fur they had that pretty much down though!

And "Real Gone" is definitely the best track!

Sometimes it depends on the audience - if kids are jumping around etc, I get distracted by them and miss bits. When I saw Cars - I had the best audience ever for a "kids" movie - everyone stayed dead quiet and we could just sit and enjoy the movie. In fact, it was the best movie experience I've had in a long time :D

I've heard a couple of people now say that they saw the Ratatouille trailer, but it wasn't played at the George St Sydney cinema, and Wayne said he missed it when he saw the movie too. Thankfully you can download the high-def version on the internet. I love the look of the film already, the rat does look cool (and will make a great plush!)

I really liked this movie and for me that is high praise. I'm not the type to get gushy about much of anything (except the All Blacks beating the Wallabies) but I would have to say that this is my favourite Pixar movie. If the backgrounds are "drawn" then they are spectacular, so much so that I wonder if they aren't photographic. There are so many little details and in jokes that I'm hanging out for the DVD now so I can watch it again in comfort and take my time.

Unfortunately for Pixar my favourite film of this ilk is still the original Shrek though.

The Cars DVD is being released on the 25th October. EzyDVD is the only place where you can buy the Cars 2 Disc DVD. I do not know what is on the 2nd Disc but I have my order in.

Hi Wayne - the DVD was in all the shops on Monday. JB HiFi are selling the single disc version for $29.98 and it has a great 3D lenticular cover.

HMV were selling the 2-disc version for $39.98 and the single disc version for $32.95. Sanity is also sell these 2 versions at the same prices. The second disc was the Rascal Flatts music video of Life is a Highway.

The EZYDVD version has the special collectors tin and key ring for $32.83.

I also saw it at Borders Books for $29.95 with a normal cover.

So take your pick - they all look different :)

I participate in a group for adults with an intellectual disability and on Thursday night we had a movie night and watched Cars. It really is a great movie because it has an appeal across all age groups and tastes. The slap-stick moments however were the favourites of the group. A great night!

Yep! I actually made a similar comment to Craig on the weekend. We were watching Cars for approximately the 3 468 573rd time  and it still held a tiny amount of appeal. Imagine if Josh was obsessed with Chicken Little or Home on the Range - eek!
