Cars

Postby KeithS » Mon May 01, 2006 8:49 pm

Just a quick update on Pixar's Cars.

Today the Office of Film and Literature Classification gave the movie a G rating and a run time of 116 minutes (which is twenty minutes more than the length quoted on the Internet Movie Database - so I'm guessing that includes the Pixar 'short' prior to the film, which must be attached to the print.)

Wouldn't have minded being one of those reviewers who get to watch the movie before release!

I can't wait for this movie to hit the cinema. Read some early story backgrounds in the now defunct Disney magazine well over 12 months ago and it sounded great. I'm a big fan of all the Pixar stuff.

I am a huge Pixar fan - and even better, I am a huge American NASCAR racing fan.

I watch every NASCAR race on Fox Sports each week, and I can't believe that Pixar made a movie featuring NASCAR racing. I had my video set up to record the Talladega 500 on Monday night, and watched it yesterday when I got home - hence why I didn't post any messages last night!

June 9 can't come soon enough.

p.s. I also saw a new short trailer for it when I saw The Shaggy Dog last Saturday night.

When we are in WDW next year I am going to pay for my husband to do the Richard Petty Driving experience. He and my son are also going to goto the Nascar museum. How can I found out when races are on?

We just imported a US musclecar last year so the boys are a bit car mad! There is a cool place near WDW called Old Town. On Saturday nights they have a big car show/cruise of pre 1975 cars. Even I like going there - some of the shops are mega cool.

Sorry that this is a bit OT.

Wow - thats a lot of car racing. I'm only a fan of pixar cars I'm afraid. I might finally get my son to go to a Disney movie with me if its got cars in it though.
He's 15 and he wouldn't be seen dead in a cinema showing a Disney anything. Apparently not good for his image - go figure. Now if it were BMX trick riding he'd be there like a shot!
- but I might have a win with 'Cars'.

Yeah, I was like that once and I missed a whole generation of Disney films on the big screen. Then I discovered that a lot of girls liked Disney films - and those girls liked guys that liked Disney films! :)

Ah yes, I think they call that the getting of wisdom.

- He loves watching them at home (takes no coercion to get him to sit and watch Pirates with me for instance) but being SEEN to watch them is the operative word here!

I'm not really a car person, as you can easily tell by looking at mine but I've just watched the trailers and it looks great. I may even pay money and see it in a cinema.

"I'd give my two left lug nuts to see that".

It was out of one of the trailers, the tow truck character, who seems to get the best lines, said it. It's not really a sacrifice I'm willing to make at this stage. :D

There is a new (and I am guessing final) trailer for Cars out today. It introduces more of the cars and the voice actors.

It is available here in Quicktime:

I'm actually starting to look forward to it myself. I just hope that all the best lines aren't in the trailers.

I think it being a pixar movie there will be so many details (eg: the pinstripe 'tattoo', the dirty truck with the 'fred' numberplate that forgets his name is right there) that they couldn't possibly put all the best bits in the trailers..

I think I'm going to love this movie....
