I've been a bit slack with these updates, mainly due to not having a decent computer setup at home - I've now fixed that, so hopefully I'll be on here a bit more frequently now!

Yep - I loved that series...such a shame they canned it.

The Rogue One release date has been brought forward to 5 April. I've amended the date in the post above to reflect that.

The release windows are definitely getting shorter and shorter - we never even got to see it in the theatre as we were overseas.  By the time we got back, it was only doing a lunchtime session or a late night session so we never saw it.  I'm just waiting for the Bluray now.

Thanks Rebecca. That's a great offer. I understand it is across their range and you get the cheapest one free.

That's really interesting. You would have seen it in the theatre if you were here? I'm starting to think that a decent home setup and the speed they are being released makes going out to the movies even less relevant.

Spot on Greg - Last year, we only saw Star Wars in the cinema - same this year so far, only Rogue One.  I've haven't seen any other movies on the big screen - Disney or other.  There are a number of reasons for that, busy lives looking after elderly parents is one, but also we do have a big TV and the movies get released so quickly these days.  Also, being in the comfort of your own home means you don't have some idiot beside you talking all through the film or whatever.

We'll still see big movies when we can; I imagine we will go see Pirates in a couple of weeks, but there will be more home-cinema viewing than cinema now.

I'm not quite in a position to do it now but I used to have the full setup with the big TV and full 7.1 surround sound. I don't think I went to the movies at all unless it was something really big (at least to me) like a new Star Wars so I agree with you 100%. There is a trend now to have these Gold Class theatres with comfortable seats and table service but the price is prohibitive compared to doing the dame thing in your own home with the added comfort of pausing for things like toilet breaks or looking up an actor whose face you know but name you can't remember.

Having said all that I do find myself going to the movies at least once a week at the moment. But I'm only a 10 minute walk away and it's only $4 for a world class theatre.
