Yep - I have a PS3 and the Bluray is totally amazing.

When I originally bought it, I plugged it into my Dell 27" PC monitor and sat at my desk to watch Enchanted (my only Bluray disc so far). When I first played it and saw the Walt Disney castle logo, I felt like I was in the cinema - it was that good. You could see all the little details in that opening sequence - they are crystal clear. It is very noticeable when you put an ordinary DVD in it how much difference there is - the normal DVD is quite jagged and unclear in comparison.

I was really excited - but then Della had a look and she said she didn't think it was that much better - some people are harder to please I guess

Now I have a Sony 46" Bravia XBR - full 1080p HD, and I had to watch Enchanted a second time on that. It is totally amazing - closest thing we'll get to being in a proper cinema. Take the time to check it out at your local retailer. Make sure they show you a real film - most retailers these days put on a CGI film (usually Cars or Ratatouille) which is cheating - they are always going to look good!

If you want to do a basic comparison - look below at something I just put together.



Basically - this is an image quality comparison I've created and shows you what the difference is. I've based it on a photo I took in Tokyo. On the left is small section of a 1920x1080 (Bluray equivalent) image. On the right is the same image section at SDTV resolution 720x576. This approximates the difference on Bluray vs DVD quality (actually - the DVD quality will be a little worse than this example). As you can see, the image on the left is a lot crisper - you can read the confectionery sign, the lattice work in the dome above is crisp, you can see some detail in the people's faces, and the flowers are much better.

Hope this helps a little to understand the difference!
