Cinderella DVD

Has anyone seen any official announcements for the Australian release date for the new Cinderella Platinum Edition DVD? It is being released in the US (and supposedly worldwide or there abouts) on October 4 - but I haven't seen anything about a Region 4 release. I've been keeping an eye on Ezydvd for a while now, but no sign.

Buena Vista Home Video did this to Australian consumers with the Lion King platinum edition a while ago. They withheld the Australian release 6 months, despite it being a worldwide release - but that was probably because the Lion King musical was opening in Sydney the following month and they didn't want to confuse consumers with two products.

And if you like your Disney Platinum Edition DVDs - The Lady and the Tramp is also scheduled for worldwide release in March 2006. Now if they'd just release the Special Edition of The Little Mermaid (it is coming soon...)

Noel (from another forum but I'm trying to convince him to join this one) has emailed me to say that he's been advised by Disney Australia that both Lady and the Tramp and The Little Mermaid are being released this year in special editions. He said he will let me know when he gets a date, he has a video store so should be a good source of info.

Excellent, I'm looking forward to both of those specials.

I note that they are showing Lady and the Tramp in the El Capitan theatre in Hollywood at the moment, so I'm guessing that the DVD for that will be first and coming soon.
