2021 Movies

Postby DisneyKaren » Sun Mar 21, 2021 4:45 pm

I'm sure some of you now wait until movies come out on Disney+, however thought I start a thread for all movies for this year in the event I'm not the only one who sees some movies at the cinema.

Raya and the Last Dragon was excellent. I went with a friend and her 8yr old daughter and we all enjoyed it. We had to think at times to follow the story, however it was a great story with a wonderful moral about trusting others (something I'm not good at). My friend kept saying "the animation is so amazing". It really was. The animation, story and variety of characters makes for a great movie.

Raya is a movie which I feel suits the big screen so I'm glad I took the time and went to the cinema instead of waiting for it to come to Disney+. I also enjoyed the obligatory short, Us Again.

I thought Raya was great, especially living in Se Asia and being able to see the attention to detail in the backgrounds and even in the food. I could recognise every ingredient!

The "modernisms" in the dialogue were a little grating at times but overall I was extremely impressed.

I hope you enjoy it! I will admit as much as I'm looking forward to watching it again, I am re-finding a love of watching movies at the cinema and am glad I saw it there. Of course not always possible so it's great we no longer have to wait 2yrs for movies to come on TV!!!!

If you saw a movie in the theatre and then had the immediate option of watching it again on TV, how long would you be inclined to wait until you watched it a second time?

Well to put it into perspective - When I heard about many of the great shows on Disney+ I was excited to see The Imagineering Story; I got Disney+ late last year, started watching the series this year and still have one episode to go! There's a long list of documentaries and movies I want to see and will likely put Soul and Luca before Raya. Essentially - it's not about how long I'm inclined to wait and more about finding the time. Perhaps that's really why I go to the cinema, it gives me a purpose to put the time aside.

I get that. I grew up in a really small town a long way from anywhere and by the age of 17 I'd only seen 2 movies in a movie theatre. Even now, with a good theatre only a 15 minute walk away, going to see a movie on the big screen is still an event for me rather than something I take for granted.
