Star Wars Episode VIII

We might as well start a thread on this as it'll be here in just under two years.

News today out of Hollywood is that its May 2017 opening date has been pushed back to December 2017.  I don't know if that is because they want more time to film the movie, or whether they now know that a December opening has no competition and they can make nearly $2 billion dollars (and tie in merchandise with Christmas!).

Christmas. Who can see another Star Wars Holiday Special, or am I the only one here who has actually seen it?

Oh no - I remember it as well - I also remember the sad feeling that came over me as I switched it off after about five minutes...

I can remember very little of the show itself, just a vague memory of characters appearing in the door of a tree-house?

What I do remember is knowing it would be on TV and having that Christmas is coming feeling of excitement as the time drew near for it to be on and then the feeling that I should like it because it's Star Wars and feeling guilty because I was disappointed.

Yep, just google Star Wars Holiday Special and you will find the whole thing available to watch on YouTube and in remarkably good quality too!

I just watched 45 seconds of it and felt my coco pops rising up the back of my throat...you are warned.

Thanks for the warning but I'll forgo the traumatisation.

Coco pops huh? Kinda had you pegged as an organic muesli guy. I'm more of a can of coke for breakfast kinda guy. All the vitamins and minerals you could want and it comes in a handy can.

LOL - no, I'm old school.  If it has 'organic' or 'free range' or anything like that written on it, I avoid it like the plague!
My motto - "if it's not deep fried, it's not worth eating"

RIP Carrie Fisher. I wonder what this means for the new Star Wars films?

Yet another dark day for the year. She will leave a huge hole in the Star Wars universe. I assume Ep viii has already been shot, so if she's in it it'll be ok. Her daughter is in it again.

CGI means she will be in Ep IX.

yep, I had read that CGI is a possibility for the last installment.  Such sad news that her mother (Debbie Reynolds) also passed only 1 day later... officially from a stroke but I'm betting its a broken heart... Vale to both of them.  I really am very sad over their passing.

Debbie Reynolds dying has just blown me away. One of my favourite movies is Singin' In The Rain and I read her autobiography recently. Broken heart absolutely.
Of course I was expecting it,  George Michael, Carrie Fisher...there had to be a third.
