Hows everyone feel about the new Monsters Inc sequel actually being a prequel?

I have to admit that I haven't really given it too much thought. I like Monstropolis and I'm not against sequels/prequels on the whole if there is a new story to be told that is clever (Toy Story 2 & 3 are fine examples).

I'm going to see Cars 2 this weekend to judge that too - I'm sure it will entertain me but I wonder if it will feel like a Pixar movie or whether it feels like a cash-in? Most reviewers are saying it is a cash-in, but I find if I go in with low expectations, I'll often enjoy it more anyway :D

yep, there does seem to be a bit of a thumbs down with the critics. Millie and I are going Saturday too so, like you, I'm going with no real expectations of brilliance and hoping to be pleasantly surprised. I have to say though, every time we see the ad on TV with Mater dressed as Dracula we crack up when he comes out with 'I vant to syphon your gassssss'... so here's hoping the rest is as funny.

The only thing I've heard about the Monsters 2 is that Mike and Sully don't like each other to start with, so that right there could be hilarious.

If it is about them being rivals and how they became best friends - then I think that could be a really cool storyline!

I'll have the trailer at the meeting tomorrow, along with Wreck-it-Ralph.

See you all there

I hope sequals are not going to become the norm for PIxar. I know they are easy money and I would assume a 3rd cars is a given to keep the theme park bucks coming in for the years to come at DCA. But I want to see new stuff.

OMG, that is absolutely BRILLIANT!!! So, so detailed, it's as good as my uni's REAL website! You can actually buy the stuff in the store too. I clicked on a couple of items and it took me through to the Disneystore. AMAZING :)

Saw it today - loved it!

Make sure you stay until the end of the credits, even if the staff insist on cleaning the rows directly in front and behind when you are the last couple to leave!

Beth's right, make sure you stay till the end. I enjoyed the movie, but I think I had very high expectations. It didn't live up to them.
