I'm not a Pooh movie fan but for some reason, I really like this trailer. It feels nostalgic without me ever having watched Pooh movies as a kid. I'm betting Della will drag me to this, but I'm not going to resist too much - this does look interesting.

I'm really excited about this 100 acre wood offering... I've been reading a lot about it lately and apparently, its going to be more like the movies pre-3D , which I'm all for. I really didn't like Pooh in 3D.

I'm not the biggest Pooh fan in the world, despite having to sit through endless rounds of the movies when Millie was little, but this one looks like the 'cuteness' of old.

And I am a HUGE A.A. Milne fan as well...we share a birthday. -/

From the looks of things, Disney has pulled Winnie the Pooh from a wide Australian cinema release.

Originally scheduled for 22 September, it has now been replaced with the 3D release of The Lion King on that date. They have also removed all references to WtP from the Australian Disney website homepage :(

Looks like it may only have a limited release and then straight to DVD/Bluray.

Damn I should have seen this while I was overseas. Why have they pulled it? Did it do that bad in the States?

It did open on the same day as Harry Potter...

Disney thought that the audience would be different - however I guess they didn't figure that kids who wanted to see Pooh would need to go with a parent - and those parents all opted for Harry instead (and left the kiddies with the grandparents!)

I've checked both Hoyts and Event Cinemas upcoming releases, and can confirm that neither chain has Winnie the Pooh scheduled (and their schedules go up to December...)

As we sort of expected - this movie now looks like it is going straight to Bluray (no release date though)

The Office of Film and Literature Classification have today reviewed the Bluray and have given it a G rating (naturally!)

Here's the Classification details:
http://www.classification.gov.au/www/co ... enDocument

Of course - this isn't unprecedented in recent times. Disney also failed to release the live action film "The Secretariat" here in Australia at cinemas last year. The Bluray/DVD is now about to hit the shelves (funny enough, Qantas has been showing The Secretariat on flights since the beginning of the year!)

I guess Walt Disney Studios Australia are only going to release movies for mass audiences now.

The Winnie the Poog Blu-ray is out now in Australia (via Big W). Agreed, Keith - why an exclusive? It virtually bypassed cinemas (smallest release ever). Do they not want people to see the film? Anyways, I've just posted a review of the film on my site:

http://www.thereelbits.com/2011/10/09/b ... -the-pooh/

It seems to be the same as the US copy, just a few weeks earlier. Enjoy!
