Tearjerkers

Postby ajp » Tue Oct 14, 2008 8:59 am

I was surprised to read that Bambi rated as the top Tearjearker movie. There has been some over the years and for that to continue to top the list is a big acheivement.

There is one, that if the reaction from my kids on the weekend is anything to go by, makes Bambi look like a romantic comedy! They went through half a box of tissues watching 8 Below on Saturday night, i wasn't watching (luckily), but watching and listening to them blubber on the lounge, well, I won't say was amusing, but heartfelt at least.

Anyone else got a movie that would rate as a top tearjerker?

Right now EVERYTHING makes me cry  I'm glad I stopped watching 8 Below on the weekend, I would have been in hysterics by the sound of it.

I have Old Yella on DVD and have never watched it because I know what happens

Bambi is a good one, but I cry at Beauty at the Beast and a whole lot of other movies. Preggo brain has me right now tho and I can't think of any specific movies

You can't go past the remake of Starsky and Hutch I reckon - the moment when their red Ford Torino goes sailing off the dock and into the water - it bought a tear to my eye :D But as in all good movies, they get it replaced at the very end - I love happy endings!

Talking about Eight Below - I ran into Della's mum on Saturday - and this is the greeting I got:

"We watched Eight Below last night because you said Disney movies were always happy! Well, they're not!"

Boy - did I get a gob full...

In all seriousness, for some reason the Steve Martin version of "Father of the Bride" gets me every time.

Now I'm pretty sure I mentioned way back when I watched that at the movies that it wasn't one that Della would like. It really does have some sad moments in it.

I must admit I tend to agree with Greg. Being a father of 2 girls, that movie does hit a spot. Steve Martin has an uncanny knack of being able make an audience laugh with a tear in the eye.

I absolutely love Steve Martin movies...I just can't remember the details of that one. Might be time to revisit it now that I'm thinking about it and have the time.

Yep - you are right and I reminded Della of exactly that conversation - but she thought watching it on telly wouldn't be so harrowing as seeing it at the cinema...
