Okay, the webcast is over and it will be available for download later in the week. I'll provide the link once it is available.
The cast interviews were pretty bland and boring, but the presentation by Jason Surrell and Tim O'day was informative. I'm looking forward more than ever to talking with Jason next week at our meeting.
Here is a rundown on the more interesting things they talked about:
Tim and Jason spoke of the new technology for the Jack Sparrow animatronics in the POTC updated ride - they showed amazing video of Jack in a rocking chair and in a barrel, and some really funny vision of Johnny Depp having a close look at his alter-ego.
They then showed the imagineers programming Capt Barbarossa for his appearance in the ride. Jason said he had the opportunity to watch them programming the Captain's actions and watching how they put it together.
They showed the behind the scenes of how they put the movie premier together - how they built the giant screen and installed the World's longest red carpet - 2500 feet from Main street to New Orleans square via Tomorrowland.
Bob Iger was on red carpet. Bob talked about how great the movie is - about the Jack Sparrow character and how Bob thought that it was necessary to include him into the ride. He said the new scenes honour the old ride and will please the purists.
Lead Imagineer on the new POTC Cathy Rogers, appeared with Jason and explained some of the new special effects changes including the brand new sound sytem with 200 high defintion speakers - new lighting - new fog - new enhanced cannon ball effects in the water to make you feel like you are in the battle. Cathy also talked about how Johnny Depp gave input into the animation and scenes. Cathy was also a lead on Expedition Everest.
Jason talks about how POTC is in all the Magic Kingdoms except Hong Kong and says that we shouldn't be surprised to see it there soon...!
Thousands of new gold coins were added to the attraction, as well as hundreds of props such as old books etc have been added to improve the look and feel. Jason mentions how the imagineers go around to second hand markets etc to pick up props...They even managed to get the chest from the first movie as a prop in the Disneyland attraction.
You can now try the Dead Man's Tale online game at MSN.com - here is the link:

Jason talked of how WDW nearly didn't get POTC because they thought WDW was too close to the Caribbean and New Orleans. Marc Davis wanted a western version instead but an outcry from visitors forced Disney to build POTC in Florida.
The Blue Bayou restaurant makes a cameo appearance in the new movie - including the fireflies!
Anyway - that covers a lot of the interest stuff. The movie and the ride updates look fantastic. The movie opens in Australia on the 6th July. The new attraction opens in Disneyland this Monday and in Orlando on July 7 - looking forward to riding it!
Catch you all later.
