Quick Trip to WDW

Postby KeithS » Mon Dec 10, 2018 7:32 am

Della and I are heading off again for a week.

As you'd know if you were on the recent club trip - you'd have met Brian and Patti, our friends based in Orlando.  Patti is finally retiring from over 30 years service at Disney and has invited us to her retirement party in January.

So we are heading over there for a quick visit!  They've kindly put us up at the Saratoga Springs Resort DVC suite for four days, then we will head over to Animal Kingdom lodge for a few days before flying home.  Can't wait!

Hey - I never thought of that!  He's usually there until around Australia Day isn't he?
I've never been to WDW in the cooler weather - it has always been stinking hot when I've gone, so this'll be different.  I'm looking forward to checking out Epcot's Festival of the Arts - it is the only Epcot festival I haven't been to yet (after Food and Wine, and Flower and Garden).

Wow, that sounds amazing!  Hope you have a great time.
My favourite Disney artist Jerrod Maruyama is releasing a new piece of artwork at the Festival of the Arts (https://dribbble.com/shots/5684558-Afternoon-of-Cute) so i'm jealous that you'll be there for that

Wow that's awesome!  I haven't truly done any of the Epcot Festivals - I barely count my day on cold & flu meds during the Flower & Garden in '96 as keeping my eyes open was a challenge (they're not kidding about 'may make you tired').  Jerrod Maruyama is great, thanks to Rebecca & Brad I was introduced to his artwork and got to meet him.  I'm sure you'll be pretty busy with so many parks in so few days!

I look forward to your stories and photos Keith.  All the best to Patty.

What counts as cooler weather in WDW? I ask this as someone who lived in QLD and now lives in Thailand.

Hopefully low to mid-20s and not that heavy humidity you get in Florida in summer.

I do notice that next Monday the top temperature is only 9 degrees haha - hope it warms up a little before we get there next Wednesday night!

Low to mid 20's sounds amazing. Had winter here last week, I think it was Tuesday and part of Wednesday. :-)

Well, we are pretty much packed - just two more days at work then we are off to Disney World.

Keep an eye open here as I'll be posting daily updates (as much as I can) when I get over there :)

Well, I should be on the way, but our flight has been delayed by a couple of hours, so we are still at home :)

Now taking off at 5pm - I had to spend 30 minutes on the phone with Qantas as well to fix up the connecting flight but it is all sorted now!

Orlando, here we come :)
