Ok, sorry i've been so slack, but here's part 1 of my report....
After spending the weekend in Singapore, we had a midday flight to Shanghai on the Monday. We arrived as scheduled at 6pm and after clearing immigration and customs and waiting in a taxi queue almost as long as the immigration queue we finally arrived at the Toy Story Hotel. I luckily had translated the hotel address, but even still the driver seemed a bit confused. We got slightly ripped off as he stopped his meter at 75RMB while stopped at the traffic lights waiting to turn into the driveway, and when we arrived told us 100RMB. He actually wouldn’t unlock the doors until we had handed over the money too!
We checked in and purchased our park tickets. If you buy your tickets at the hotel you’re able to enter through the Disneytown entrance at all times, which is kinda handy.
We grabbed a bite to eat from the Sunnyside Cafe and activated our data SIMS we bought before we arrived. Thanks to a recommendation from TDR Explorer, we purchased a data only sim for Hong Kong and Mainland China. Because it’s a Hong Kong SIM card, there was no Chines internet firewall to deal with. I was a little sceptical even though I had read a few reviews, but am happy to report they worked amazingly well. $30 for 2GB was pretty much perfect for our 6 days in China.
2 Days at Disneyland to come!
