2018 Club Trip

Postby WayneG » Wed Nov 23, 2016 9:44 am

Over the last 10 years we have had a number of club trips to the parks. Starting with the 25th anniversary of Tokyo Disneyland where we joined members of the Disneyana a Fan Club. Of course the first trip was our world Disney Trip visiting all the Disney parks on one holiday in 2006.
In 2011 25 of us visited Hong Kong Disneyland
In 2013 we visited the pacific Disney parks at Christmas time
In 2016 we attended the opening opening of Shanghai Disneyland

I would like to get your ideas for our next club trip?

Wayne

Hi Wayne. I wonder if there is an appetite for a club cruise? I know it is an expensive option but it would be memorable.

I thought there may have been a bigger response to this thread given how successful previous club trips have been.  We've had the amazing world tour, the 25th Anniversary of Tokyo Disney, the Hong Kong club trip, the pacific parks trip, and the opening of Shanghai - we also had an unofficial trip to the first D23 Expo (quite a few of us went and we rendezvoused there!)

There are so many more things we could do as a club - so start thinking about what we could do - not in 2017, but say 2018 - so we can all start saving and planning!

I'd love to attend a birthday celebration at a park at least once, I'm not sure which birthdays are big celebrations.  In 2018 there's Tokyo's 35th and Animal Kingdom's 20th, both of which are in April and of course Mickey Mouse turns 90 in November (yes I did record all the dates .....in the hope of planning my own trip around one).  Hearing about how great the tour to the Asian parks was mid this year, I hope to join in a Disneyana tour one day.

I'm afraid we won't be able to go on any club trips until the boys have flown the coop.  We plan our trips around school terms and we wouldn't dream of leaving them while they are still so young.  Our next trip probably won't be until 2019 anyway

Ooooh - I like the birthday idea too!  Della and I have been to a few - 50th Disneyland, 1st Hong Kong, 25th Tokyo, 35th WDW (and was almost there on the 45th WDW this year!).

The 25th for Paris is coming up next year, but too soon for a club trip.  I wonder what the next big anniversary will be.  50th at WDW would be great - that would be in October 2021 (maybe just in time for the new cruise ship to come online as well??!!)

Anyone else interested in a "every Disney Park in the shortest possible time" attempt?

No thanks Greg - we did the world trip in 2006 (missing Tokyo) over 32 days and it was hard work!  Unpacking and packing and catching planes and not knowing what country your in.  To compress that over a shorter period of time would be nasty :)  Also, if I'm going to spend the money going around the world like that, I'd want to spend more time in each place.  Of course, if I had endless cash, then sure - let's do it! hahaha

There was quite a bit of talk about this on Saturday night at the meeting, with the general consensus being that a cruise in October 2018 could be on the cards.  Specifically, a Halloween cruise out of Los Angeles to the Mexican Riviera.  There are a number of reasons for this - Los Angeles is easier for us to get to.  The cruise is 7-nights. We can also tied in a visit to the Disneyland.  The trip could all be done in 2-3 weeks.

Nothing is set is stone yet, so please keep thinking of ideas.  I'm interested if someone can do the research to determine if there is any special park anniversary in 2018.

Hmmm.... interesting...

Late 2018  was the time I was planning another trip to the US for Disney, although, as I've done a Halloween cruise was planning a Christmas one.

Keith the only birthday at that time of year is Mickey's 90th in Nov. He has aged well!! Hopefully Disneyland will be doing something by early November.

Any cruises that go north from Los Angeles? Does Disney do Alaska cruises?

Hi Greg, Disney do run Alaskan cruises from Vancouver and we are considering that as an alternative. The advantage of a Mexican cruise is its departure from LA so we could fit in a Disneyland visit easily.
