Hi everyone! I've finally written up the highlights of the first two days. So much has happened that I just can't do it justice in words - you just had to be here (LOL!)

Anyway, here is the short version!

Day 1 – 24 August 2015 (Sydney, Flying, Anaheim)
Today is one of those really, really long days that stretch about 40 hours! I got up around 4:30am in Penrith and Dad took me over to Della’s house. Della had prepared all the luggage, so we just loaded it into the car and headed to the airport. We had one bag overweight by 1kg, but no drama there.

We quickly got through Immigration and headed to the Qantas Club where we sat for an hour or so until it was time to go to the gate. The flight was non-eventful and we arrived ahead of schedule at 6:20am in Los Angeles. They have a new Smartgate system for ESTA countries so it took a lot less time to be processed. We were out of the terminal by around 7:15.

The Disneyland Express came right on time at 8am and took us to the Disneyland Hotel. When we got off the bus, we ran into another couple who were married on 22 August who were also checking in and had a chat to them.

We went to the reception and things started to get interesting. The girl behind the desk appeared surprised when she typed my name in and said the room was still being prepared and we could move in after 3pm. She said we were being given a big room. She was also able to see our itinerary and commented on the size our trip. She asked us for our favourite characters (Belle and Minnie) and she went backstage and came back with personally sign glossy photos of those characters – so cool. She also handed us an itinerary which contains a couple of VIP events, including seeing the Paint the Night Parade from the railway station, and World of Color from an exclusive viewing spot! (We aren't exactly sure who is responsible for arranging the VIP stuff be we assume it is one of our great Disney friends from the club!)

We gave our bags to the bell desk and decided to hits the shops in the lobby and then out to Downtown Disney. We firstly went to Earl of Sandwich for an early lunch and then made some purchases at World of Disney. Della hit the wall at that point and I tried to keep her going by taking her into Disneyland but she couldn’t keep going, so we headed back to the hotel.

We waited in the lobby for a bit but Della was falling asleep – so she just asked them if they knew how long it would be. The next thing we know – we were put into a suite on the 12th floor of the Frontier Tower!

We headed up to the room and couldn’t believe the room – it is enormous! Della crashed pretty much straight away and I contacted Wayne to see if he wanted dinner tonight. He said yes, so I went downstairs to book Steakhouse 55 in the Disneyland Hotel for 5:40. As soon as I gave them my name, they made a comment about seeing me in their system and said congratulations on my marriage! The news was obviously spreading!

When I got back to the room, Della was recovering so we just got ready for dinner. At 5:30, we headed to the restaurant and ran into Wayne and Jennifer as they were arriving. We were seated and they gave us some hors d’oeuvres “compliments of the chef”. We then had a great steak dinner and it was finished off with a free dessert with “congratulations” marked on it. It was a terrific night and one of the best meals I’ve had in the US.

We then all returned to our hotel room to show Wayne and Jennifer the suite and some of our wedding photos. We then turned in after that as we had had a very long day!

Day 2 – 25 August 2015 (Disneyland)
We got up this morning and realised we’d forgotten to organise breakfast for today, so we headed downstairs to the small coffee shop in the hotel and grabbed some drinks and muffins. Then it was straight to Disneyland for us. We ran into Ariel inside the front gate so we had a chat to her as Della flashed her wedding rings. Next we headed into Town Square and got a photo with Daisy Duck before watching the new Disneyland Band strut their stuff in front of the Railroad Station (the new version of the band was excellent!)

We then made our way down Main Street avoiding the shops but stopping at the Castle for a photopass shot with Byron the photographer. Following that, we grabbed a run on It’s a Small World then looked at the gift shop in Toontown. When we were in there, we noted that they had hat embroidery so we asked them if we could get our wedding date added below our names on the Bride and Groom ear hats we were wearing that had been sent to us by our friends Brian and Patti in Orlando. The girls behind the counter said no, but they would just give us new ear hats with our names and date of marriage for free! And we got to keep the old ones too! More Disney Magic!

We then returned to the front of the Park as we were going to meet club members Jan and Les for lunch at the Plaza Inn. First we had to buy some Disney Pins which we quickly did before heading to lunch. Jan and Les were waiting outside and they bought us lunch to celebrate our wedding! We had a great catch up before going our separate ways (Jan and Les are flying home tomorrow).

We went back to Frontierland and grabbed a Fastpass for Big Thunder Mountain and then headed over to New Orleans Square to do some Pandora shopping as Della had some gift money from her kitchen tea for Pandora charms (she successfully out-spent the gift money!). We used our pass on Big Thunder Mountain (loved the new special effects!) and then headed back to do a big shop in Main Street of things we wanted and picked up our Castle photos from this morning.

When we got to Main Street, the Soundsational Parade was just commencing and the crowds were light, so we got a great spot to watch that parade before hitting the shops. We bought a bunch of 60th merchandise and then decided to take the monorail back to the hotel to drop it all off. It was already 6pm, so we dumped the goods, and headed straight back to the monorail station. Once back in Disneyland, we got hot dogs at the Coke Corner and then headed to our VIP seating for Paint the Night and firework viewing from the train station. That was terrific! And the new parade is really good (much better than the Youtube videos of it!). The fireworks were brilliant too!

After the fireworks, it was closing time for the park so we walked back to the hotel.

It has been two great days with lots of magical memories – a Disney trip at its best.

Tomorrow, we are going to Disney California Adventure!

Day 3 – 26 August 2015 (Disney California Adventure)
We remembered to book a breakfast for this morning and it arrived right on 9am. Bacon and eggs for Della and pancakes with blue berries and maple syrup for me – yum!

We headed to Disney California Adventure around 10am and it was a pretty quiet day there. We were tempted to head to Radiator Springs Racers, but then saw the new Grizzly Peak Airfield area (formerly Condor Flats) and decided to take a look there are it was new. We jumped straight on Soarin’ to experience the new digital projection and it was fantastic – so much better detail and no more scratches, dust and other artifacts in the film.

From there, we walked through Grizzly Peak to Paradise Pier and jumped straight on Voyage of the Little Mermaid. It was a boiling hot day today, so we then walked over to Ghirardelli Soda Fountain for a couple of Nob Hill Chills. They’ve added more seating there outside so it was nice having that cold drink in the shade outside.

When we left there, we continued our walk around Paradise Pier, stopping at the shops and then hopping aboard California Screamin’ roller coaster. Once off that, we moved up to the former Duffy shop near Ariel’s Grotto and bought some items which meant we then needed to get a locker at the top end of Buena Vista Street. Again, we did the shops at that end of the park before heading into Hollywood Land area.

In Hollywood Land, we grabbed a frozen lemonade to eat before going to visit with Crush in Talking Turtle. We then spent some time in the Disney Animation hall as it was nice and cool in the middle of the day. After we left the building, a Red Car Trolley was waiting to depart towards the Tower of Terror. It was the first time we’ve managed to actually get on the trolley in three visits!

There was a long wait at Tower, so we just kept walking through A Bugs Land to Radiator Springs where we went on another shopping spree…lots of new Cars Land merchandise and I even picked up one of those cool Dinoco Oil Can sippers that we discussed in the forum a few weeks ago. We also ate some churro pieces with hot sauce from the Cozy Cone Motel before jumping onto Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree. Next up was finding a place for the Pixar Play Parade – with the crowds being quiet this week, it was easy to get a good spot on parade route in the shade just five minutes prior to parade start! The parade had changed since we last saw it – first it had a pre-parade with Inside Out characters, and the main parade started with characters from Monster’s University.

After the parade, we headed to an early dinner at the Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta. Following dinner, we decided to head back to the Disneyland Hotel and test out their new swimming pool complex. The pool was at a really nice temperature and we stayed there for quite a while before returning to our room. We put on the TV for the fireworks channel and watched the fireworks out of our window with the music playing from the TV – that was great and finished another fun day at the Disneyland Resort!

Tomorrow, we'll be back in Disneyland I think :)

Day 4 – 27 August 2015 (Disneyland and Disney California Adventure)
Another glorious hot day was forecast for us and after getting up, we headed to The Earl of Sandwich for breakfast before going straight to Disneyland for the day. Once there, we did the full circle ride of the Disneyland Railroad which was cool because the train was lightly packed and we were in the carriage right behind the drivers and could see them operating the train. Once back in Town Square, we actually discovered a whole shop of 60th anniversary goods that we had completely missed. There were items there that we hadn’t found elsewhere in the park so decided we’ll come back later in the day to buy them.

We headed down Main Street and got some photos taken in front of the partner’s statue before heading into Tomorrowland and headed into the Starcade to check out all the new Star Wars merchandise. I got a The Force Awakens t-shirt which is awesome and Della bought some other stuff including Minnie Mouse dressed as Princess Leia LOL. We decided that we’d need another locker today, so went back to Center Street to get one.

After that we headed into Adventureland to go on the Jungle Cruise. Our skipper was terrific and actually put a new spin on some of the old jokes – we were entertained! We then grabbed a Fastpass for Indiana Jones before walking down to Critter Country and going for a ride on Winnie the Pooh.

We got back to Indiana Jones after doing shopping in Critter Country, but the ride went down as we got to the Fastpass line. So we popped over to Bengal BBQ and bought some meat skewers. By the time we’d finished them, Indy was back up and we went for our ride. There were some new effects and the ride looked great again!

After Indy, we went and grabbed a Dole Whip which we ate in The Hub. After that, we went into Frontierland and Della bought a new embroidered jacket (the new winter range of clothes is just beginning to come into the parks this week).

We dropped the shopping off at the locker, then did the walk around Big Thunder Trail into the back of Fantasyland. Once there, we hopped on Alice in Wonderland which has been really improved with new projections that enhance the ride. We tried to get on Peter Pan however the queue was long and in direct sunlight so we couldn’t stand there without burning! Instead, we went on Snow White’s Scary Adventures which was a walk on.

Following that, we tried to get on the Carousel, however while we were waiting in line, one of the ride operators through his keys to a new operator – but he through them so high, it smashed a bulb above a young rider and glass went everywhere and they shut down the ride as jagged bits of bulb were still loose in the fitting! Oops!

After that, I noticed I had a missed call on my phone from the Disneyland Resort which was Club33 confirming my reservation. So I went to Guest Services to let them know I was still going on Friday and we sorted that all out. After that, we noticed that the Flag Retreat Ceremony was on, so we ducked into the Emporium to get out of the way. We picked up some things there before heading across Main Street and back to the 60th store where we picked up the official book, soundtrack, ears, and a few pins and shirts.

We grabbed our stuff from the locker and then headed back to the Disneyland Hotel – it was now 6pm and we had to go to DCA for our VIP viewing of World of Color. We’ve since discovered our VIP status has come courtesy of Brian and Patti – our cast member friends who will be joining us on the cruise to Alaska (thanks Brian and Patti!)

Once in DCA, we grabbed some burgers at Smokejumpers Grill before checking out The Mad T-Party in Hollywood Land. From there we walked down to Cars Land and took some neon photos and rode Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree again. From there, we walked around Paradise Pier and grabbed some drinks before meeting the cast member who directed us to our VIP viewing area for World of Color.

And what a viewing area it was! We were dead centre, with no one around us! It was a little private area completely roped off with just eight other people there. It was elevated so we could see everything and no one could stand in front of us – just brilliant! And the show was terrific too – it made Della cry!

We hung around after the show until the DCA closing announcement signalled we had to head home for the night. Another brilliant day.

Tomorrow, we are going to DCA first and then Disneyland later in the day.

Day 5 – 28 August 2015 (Disneyland and Disney California Adventure)
Another big day and a fitting finale to our stay here in Anaheim.

Firstly, we got up and just like yesterday, headed to the Earl of Sandwich shop for breakfast. Again it was another hot day – even hotter than yesterday. Our first stop was to visit Disney California Adventure and after passing through the turnstiles, we met up with Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. It was our first ever meeting with Oswald (the forerunner to Mickey Mouse).

After that, we checked out the times board and noticed the times were already climbing for the main attractions. We decided we would probably just do a park walkthrough before heading over to Disneyland. We did try to meet Olaf from Frozen in Hollywood Land, but the wait was very long so we skipped it. We did the walk from Tower of Terror through Bugs Land and Cars Land to Pacific Wharf where we grabbed cold drinks. Then it was the big loop through Paradise Pier, Grizzly Peak and the airfield then out the front gates and across to Disneyland.

When we arrived there, the band was playing outside the railroad station with Mickey and the Gang and the Dapper Dans also in attendance. It was a great live show too. After we watched them, we walked down Main Street and through Snow White’s Grotto to the Tea Cup ride in Fantasyland. It was open today for the first time since we arrived and the line was small, so we jumped straight on. After that, we went to It’s a Small World shop to look at a blanket Della was interested in but we didn’t buy it.

We then did a walkthrough of Tomorrowland before heading to the Plaza Inn for a cold drink (it was scorching hot by now!) While we were sitting there, Della was given a Plaza Inn button from one of the servers, so she was very excited! After we left there, we walked across the Hub t Fantasy Faire and saw Rapunzel at her meet and greet.

Leaving Rapunzel behind, we headed through to Frontierland and back around to the Main Street shops. We had a last few items to purchase before we had to go back to the hotel and change for our dinner engagement tonight.

Back at the hotel, we got showered and changed so we could be fresh for dinner tonight. We headed back to the park (it was still hot) and planned to catch the monorail, however they told us it was down due to excessive heat, so we had to walk back to Disneyland. Prior to going to dinner, we stopped off for more purchases, and as we were a little early for our booking, we sat on a bench and chatted to a local couple who visited all the time to see the live music. They were really nice.

After dinner, we got back to Main Street just in time to see the beginning of the Paint the Night parade – we really like this one and it is not to be missed if you visit Anaheim. Straight after that, the Disneyland Forever fireworks were on and they are brilliant too.

Back in the hotel now and packing for Vancouver – we fly there tomorrow morning.

Day 6 – 29 August 2015 (Anaheim and Vancouver)
Today is a transport day as we say goodbye to the Disneyland Resort and hello to Vancouver. We got up at 6am and had breakfast in our room as we finalised our packing. The Disneyland Express bus was due to pick us up at 8am, and we rang the Bell desk around 7:20am for them to collect our bags and take them to the bus stop. Again it was heating up and we were dressed for the colder Vancouver weather, but the bus came a little early, so we were not outside for long.

The trip to the airport was uneventful and check-in for our Westjet flight went smoothly. The flight was also an easy ride, although there were storms around Vancouver when we arrived and it was a bit rough. Once on the ground, we entered the arrival hall and there was a giant snake queue to get through customs – up and down like queuing at D23 Expo!

Eventually we got through and found a taxi which took us to our hotel – the Pan Pacific which is immediately above the cruise dock here. Wow – what a great hotel and guess what? Despite us booking it for just two days using a Wot-if type website, we’ve been upgraded to the top floor concierge level! We have a concierge, private breakfast and drinks room, free wifi etc – awesome! And our room looks out over Vancouver Harbour and so we can see the floatplanes landing and departing, and the cruise ships sailing out.

Later tonight, we are catching up with our friends from Orlando for dinner who are coming on the cruise with us. Should be a fun night!

Day 7 – 30 August 2015 (Vancouver)
We got up this morning and had breakfast up on the 23rd floor in our private dining area. We then went downstairs to meet up with Brian and Patti. They had bought us tickets for the hop on, hop off bus. We went on a tour of the City heading first to Stanley Park which is bigger than Central Park New York.

We got off the bus at a magnificent rose garden and we took lots of photos before walking through the park to the totem pole area which was really cool to see. Back on the bus and we headed up to the Lion Gate Bridge and had lunch at the guest house up there. We then moved on to the south shore of Vancouver and caught a ferry across to Granville Island. The skipper had an Australian accent and he told us he was originally from Newcastle.

On Granville Island, there were lots of little quirky shops which we went through and Della bought a hand-made little moose. We got back on the bus and headed to the Gastown district which reminded me of Georgetown in Washington – old buildings and cobbled streets. We checked out more shops before walking back to Canada Place to have dinner at an Italian restaurant. After dinner, we headed down the street to look at the Winter Olympic cauldron from the 2010 games. After that, we parted company and headed to the room to prepare for our cruise to Alaska which begins tomorrow!

Back on dry land!!!

We've just checked in to Aulani after an amazing 17 days at sea. Disney Cruise Line is still the best and we made many friends amongst the passengers and crew. It was very hard to get off this morning and we would have loved to have gone back to Vancouver for another 10 days if we could!!! But we are at the amazing Aulani Resort now, so things aren't too bad for us :D

I kept a daily journal and will try and post them over the next few days, so keep an eye out on the forum!
