Washington D.C. and Walt Disney World 2013

Well, here is a little surprise from me.

I got a phone call at work today to tell me to pack my bags as I have to spend two weeks working in Washington D.C.

Great I thought, that means a side trip to Florida before I come home :) Who'd have thought I'd get two trips to Orlando in a year :D

At the moment, my plan is to fly out of Sydney on Friday 6 September for Washington. I'll get there Friday night which gives me two days to acclimatise and be a tourist before starting work on the Monday for two weeks.

On Saturday 21 September, I'll fly down to Orlando and stay at the Art of Animation for five nights before getting a flight on Thursday 26 September - returning to Sydney on Saturday 28 September.

I'll have about four and a half days in WDW - enough to get to the parks and do a merchandise run :D

Can't have too many countdown clocks!

I also discovered today that Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is on when I'm there - I'll have to get a ticket once my trip is confirmed :)

Sounds good Keith. Do your WDW tickets from this year work for the next trip.

No - I bought my annual pass back in June last year, so it has expired. Once all my plans are set, I'll just buy a five day accommodation and ticket package through the WDW website (they actually were selling free dining plan this week but the offer expires on 25 July and I won't be in a position to book that early.)

If you know of a TA or can find one, contact them, perhaps a dummy booking to get the free dining then change to suit would be a good option?

Yep - I'm definitely flying out of Sydney on the sixth. I'll be travelling on Qantas to Dallas - departed around 1:30pm so I think you'll have left by the time I get to the airport - doesn't your ANZ flight leave early?

Unfortunately I don't think I'll see a lot of the city. I'm staying up near Farragut West Metro station - right near The White House, but my office is down near the Smithsonian Metro station. I'll try and walk to work some days which will mean crossing the Mall and wandering right past the Washington Memorial which will be great - but I'll catch the train most days.

I have a free weekend when I arrive, so I'll visit the National Air and Space museum one day, and all the monuments the next.

I couldn't get booked into The Art of Animation resort - so I've opted for Pop Century on the other side of the lake.

I'm all booked now - just counting down the days...
