Qantas smsed me today to let me know my premium economy upgrade came through!!! So this trip is off to a great start already!

Della is already spending money in Duty Free as Swarovski has a 50% off sale on things.

Day 1 – Sunday, 3 June 2012
Holiday time is finally here! Got up early this morning to pick up Della and go to the airport. Dad took me over to Della’s and we got there about 9:20am. After loading up the car and saying bye to Della’s Mum, we drove to the airport. We had a Premium Economy upgrade with Qantas, using my frequent flyer points. After our check in, we went smoothly through the immigration and security (although Della got picked out for a full workup) and headed to the Qantas Club. Naturally, Della wanted to look at the shops before going up to the QC and went to Swarovski who were having a sale – 20 minutes later, and three purchases later, we were in the QC. She’s buying stuff and we haven’t even left Sydney yet!

After relaxing in the Club for an hour, we walked down to board our plane – an enormous Airbus A380. We were upstairs in the Premium Economy section and it was very comfortable. After take off, we hit some turbulence, but it didn’t last long and most of the rest of the flight was smooth. We landed in Los Angeles around 9:30am Sunday morning – it took a while to get through immigration and pick up our bags. After a few hours wait, we then got on our final plane for the to San Francisco. We picked up our luggage and caught the AirTrain to the rental car centre where we picked up a nice black Chevy Impala. We got the GPS up and running and headed out onto the freeways which were just as exciting as last year.

We arrived at the hotel around 6:15pm and checked in – we were very tired by then. We went straight out to get some dinner – we bought these awesome burgers. Now we are having showers and getting ready to sleep as it has been a very long day!

Tomorrow it is the Walt Disney Museum.
