D23. Disneyland, WDW - 2011

Postby Gerard » Fri Jun 17, 2011 2:05 pm

Though I should start a topic on my coming trip,
Just found out the Haunted Mansion will be open the full time I am at Disneyland, It was only open for one day before going down for the NBC overlay.
Happy about that because its my favorite -/

Woohoo! Another live trip blog :)

I saw the announcements this morning of who was going to be honoured at this year's Legends ceremony at the D23 Expo (Jodi Benson, Paige O'Hara and Lea Salonga!) - and I seriously began thinking about whether I could just head over there for the Expo this year after all. Unfortunately, reality crashed the fantasy and I figured that I can't really go. Although... if I flew out Thursday, I could come home on Tuesday - that's only four day's leave...

OK
I fly out Thursday 18th leaving to 10.15am arriving the same day 6.45am
I have a day before the D23 convention so I will pick up a Premiar Passport and spend a day in the parks
Friday Saturday and Sunday are the Convention
Monday Tuesday Wednesday I will have in the Parks
Thursday is a travel day, I leave LAX at 8.25am and arrive Orlando at 4.15pm. I have a dinner reservation at 9.10pm at The Californian Grill, so when I arrive at the resort ( staying at Pop) I will head the MK and then walk to the contemporary for dinner.
I have reserved a hire car and will pick it up first thing Friday morning (26th)
I have a booking front and centre at La Nouba on Saturday night (27th)
I have a lunch booked the the Sci fi dinner on the Friday 2nd
Lunch booked at Le cellar on the 6th
And I fly home via Dallas and Brisbane on Friday 9th in the afternoon

I plan to shop at the outlet strip mall outside WDW and see The Wisarding World of HP one day,
I usual park hop (that's what the hire car is for) depended on the EMH days.
I usually spend the morning at the EMH park and hop to another when it gets too busy.
When the EMH is at night I spend the day at another park and visit the EMH park at the end of the night

I also plan to use the water parks as it will be very warm. And I also want to play a couple of rounds of mini golf
Also on my list it to try the dine in movie thing at amc and Disney quest.
I usually plan a spa treatment at the Grand Floridian followed by a lunch at EPCOT and a Sunday at Peaches and Cream

Interesting you plan to attend and EMH and then park hop. Touring Plans crowd calendar says to avoid EMH parks altogether as the other parks will be quieter all day.

true
1.touring plans don't really apply to just one person, so I never use them
2.I only attend the actual EMH and leave soon after the parks fill will regular guests, so if a EMH is in the morning at MK, I will park in the MK lot attend the park for the first 2 hours and monorail it to EPCOT for the rest of the day and vis versa

I've generally done the same thing Gerard - EMH (they were only ever in the morning when I went) and the park hop once the park started to fill up. It's worked great in the past. Of course, this was all pre-children so we'll have to see what we do on the next trip.

Your trip sounds like a lot of fun - what water park do you plan on visiting, or are you doing both?

Both of which I would love to do - although the Fort Wilderness Segway tour looks cool too. I'm guessing you won't be able to take pics of the utilidors on the Backstage Magic tour :(
