How cold is that! Peter is going to have a heart attack and what to cancel our trip if I tell him it gets that cold!

We are off to Forster for 2 weeks tomorrow so will be off-line. While not quite as exciting as the extended forum family OS, it's better than being at work. I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their trips and I will speak to you all at the end of Jan - cheerio!

See you in a fortnight Beth - have fun up there!

Yep - that is pretty cold over there in Florida - although not unprecedented. Those geeky folk on here may remember the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster occurred after freezing overnight temperatures damaged the integrity of the O-ring on the solid rocket booster - the date of that accident was January 28 1986 - so a very similar time of the year.

This year is Florida's coldest since 2001 - so you should console him now with the thought that they can't have two cold years in a row! :D

Wow ajp, the girls look fantastic all kitted out Pirate-like... -/

I especially love the eyeball face paint... now that is wicked. What amazing memories you guys are making.

Can't wait to hear all about your cruise experience... I suspect it might be a long week and a half for us land lubbers not having quite as much fun.

Too true - I'm already imagining what he's doing - by my calculation, it is currently 7:15pm in Fort Canaveral, so they are probably on the ship, have completed their life boat drill, and are now about to head for dinner!

Showers with ocassional snow flurries was the forecast for the day we departed on the cruise. The weather in key west the next day was no warmer, the wind chill was below 0 c. It slowly warmed up as the cruise progressed and by the time we got to castaway cay we were getting 20s. The cruise was awesomely awesome sensational. I'll rave more when we get home and the website will be updated soon.

Went to Kennedy today and did something I've wanted to do since I was a kid, go to NASA. How cool is NASA and there was a shuttle on the launch pad, albeit covered but we still saw it.

Glad you ejoyed the cruise and all is going well, hopefully you had smooth sailing. It is good that you got to see the shuttle, will check as to when the launch is scheduled, then again you might be waiting for months. We saw a launch at night in December 1999, that one was delayed from October, got to be lucky sometimes.

Be interested to hear more about the museum.

Wow - I just read your blog update and looked at the photos - I'm so jealous, even the cold wet weather couldn't hide how good that ship is! I really wish I was going on the cruise this year now!

I loved the alligator made from towels :D

The towel animals they make are very clever. I remember Beth mentioning them before. Ros went to a demonstration session where they showed how to dut, she said it was easier than it looks.

Landed in SF last night (this morning) finally which I mentioned on the blog. Went to the museum today and was very impressed with all that they have done there. As you would expect the exhibits are of high quality in how they are shown and some of the things they have like letters, documents and original drawings are things to really behold. I do recomend going out of your way to come to San Francisco to visit. The city is great anyway but now this is here it's even more worthwhile. No photos to show either, any videoing or photography is strictly forbidden.

Thanks for that Anthony, I've been thinking that we will have to stop over in SF in 2014 as well. I heard a review of the museum in the ITM podcast recently and it's really got me interested now.

I was showing Craig your photos and he was pretty impressed with the towel animals. I was hoping he'd be impressed with the cruise ship, but at least we're getting somewhere I suppose
