Our WDW Trip 2010

Postby ajp » Thu Jul 30, 2009 10:59 am

I think I can finally start a thread now. Even though I had already booked the cruise, I have taken the first real steps toward the trip now. Yesterday I bought our PAP for WDW in preparation. The reason I did it now is twofold. First, the dollar was above my target so I took advantage of that. Second, I am hearing that the annual price rise for the start of August will occur, so I weighed that up and thought I would purchase now and beat technically 2 price rises (assuming they rise each year). AP don't run out and start when you first use them, so hopefully this is a good decision.

I did have a funny experience though. I rang Disney Travel to buyt them, and got the usual helpful magical experience we all know and love. But at the end of the call, the guy who I spoke with, Ebenezer, wanted to ask me a question. He wanted to know what time it was, and I told him (it was just after 8 in the morning). He then replied and said that's tomorrow isn't it. I said it is, and he was so excited that he was talking to "the future". He asked what the future was like and we had a chuckle and a joke. I think I made his day as much as he made mine, so a good experience all round.

So that's it, we're up and running. I will have questions no doubt and news in coming months. It's just so long away still ..........

Yep - I love reading people's countdowns and planning messages, as much as I love the actual trip reports - it builds the excitement and is very infectious.

Keep 'em coming Anthony!

Hey - I just noticed your countdown is down to 499 days - yay, less than 500 :D

That's a pretty steep price rise, so well done on avoiding it. Nice, quick service too. It's so much fun when you start getting tickets and stuff for your trip. Makes it so much more REAL :)

You're right Mel. And at risk of sounding real geeky, I'm so looking forward to being able to login into the Passholders section of the website for the next 2.5 years!

**UPDATE**

Yesterday I received news that I am no longer employed by the company which has put up with me for the last 23 years and 8 months. This isn't a bad thing, quite good in fact. But the downside is that we can't go on our planned trip next year because I didn't want to start looking for work with a 7 week holiday hanging over my head.

**HOWEVER**

What that means is that we have decided to advance the trip by 12 months so that we can start afresh next year and still not miss out. That's the most logical thing to do of course.

Soooo, that means that I now have to book all accommodation, airfares, the cruise and all the special things we wanted to do - over the next couple of weeks. Going to be a challenge being xmas and all, but I'm confident. The itinerary will change but we'll still do everything we planned.

Plan to leave on the 14th December (after our niece's wedding on the 12th, and daughter's dance concert on 13th) and come back end of January.

Holy cow Anthony - did you know that was coming? Della and I can sympathise as she went through the same thing after almost the same amount of time working at the CBA. Do you get any assistance from Telstra to find new work like interview training etc?

Guess I'd better update the trip calendar then! :D
