Trip Planning Well Underway

Postby sandie » Thu Jun 19, 2008 5:29 pm

Well when Mushui gets back we will only have Churros trip to look forward too and then .................its mine!!!!!!!! The trip is still secret - even from my husband at this stage!

Plans are fly out 15th April Eloise's birthday. Stay 4 nights at Mira Costa and 4 nights at Disneyland hotel in a Peter Pan secret alcove room. All days spent in the parks except 1 spa at Mira Costa/shopping and Cirque day and 1 day tour of Tokyo.

It is irking me a bit that I have to pick what days I want to go where and can't park hop every day but I will get over that.

Okay, I'm curious - I'll have to look that one up!

Before I went there, this really irked me as well - but you'll soon forget about it and it is easy to live with. And park hopping there is not like Paris and Anaheim, as the gates don't face each other - you have to catch the monorail.
We didn't end up park hopping the entire length of our stay - we just found too much to do in each park (we are big hoppers normally - especially in Anaheim, but there was no desire to here).

You are there the same time of year as us - you should get to see the cherry blossoms in DL (at the hub and in Autopia) and around Tokyo City. It will be cool - so take warm clothes!!

I know all about how hard that is. I only told a handful of people until just before I left ( including my kids) just in case the ex found out.

The hardest was keeping it from you guys. I nearly slipped up heaps of times. Had I not thought of the 'when am I going game' (with Sandies help) I'd possibly have let it slip way before I got there.

So good luck Sandie... I know how difficult that is.

I hope you are taking a laptop and are going to set up a blog.

I agree it take some doing. We planned our last trip as a surprise for our kids, so therefore we couldn't say anything to anyone, except our respective parents of course. And that was the hardest thing I've ever done, so good luck Sandie!

Its easy peasy.... ask away... I'll help any way I can.

Setting it up is easy, its finding the time to write it up that takes dedication.

I'd sure love to hear about your trip as it happens.

Hmmm, we could probably set up a blog for you on the site (and for anyone else that wants one). If you can type and click it's easy enough to use.

That'd be a perfect addition Greg. A members trip blog area, saves using a "3rd party" one.

Hey Sandie - I don't know if you have seen this yet. It appears that "our friend" Kevin Yee from Miceage has just published a new book - an unofficial guidebook in English on the Tokyo Disney Resort.

You can find it here at Amazon:

Sandie, that's amazing! We're taking our kids (currently only one kid, one on the way and the third is but a plan at this stage!) to DL and WDW when the eldest is 7. We're debating now whether they should know about it, or whether we should try and keep it a secret. I don't know if I could do it!!!

It's about time somebody wrote a guide to Tokyo Disneyland in English :D

Hello everyone - if you'd like to see a sneak peek inside of the Tokyo Disneyland Hotel - then just head on over to the link below:
http://picasaweb.google.com/rkyam1/NewT ... ylandHotel

There are some amazing photos here, the place looks absolutely fantastic!
The rooms are great - I want the wooden bed-head with the gold inlaid castle motif :)

What I also like about it is that although it is a signature "Disneyland" Hotel - it still has plenty of fun Disney touches - unlike (for example) the Disneyland Hotel in Hong Kong. I've visited the Hong Kong hotel quite a few times and although it is beautiful, there are too few marks to remind you that it is a Disney hotel - it looks like a fancy gentleman's club or something. But take a look at those photos from Tokyo - there are great pieces of Disney artwork throughout, plus stained glass windows and mosiacs, there are topiaries and the Peter Pan swimming pool - best of all, this hotel looks classy and fun! And that can be a difficult balance.

It opens officially to the public this week - July 8.
