New Shanghai Art

Postby KeithS » Fri Aug 12, 2011 7:23 pm

The Shanghai Daily has today released some new artwork of the Storybook Castle at Shanghai Disneyland.

The image on the left shows the spiral staircase inside the castle that will takes guests on the Once Upon an Adventure featuring the Disney Princesses.

The right hand image shows the pathway leading up to the castle.

I believe we'll be having a club trip for the opening - you should come along on that!

I'll be happy when they build a "DisneySea" type park in the USA, a third gate in Paris and a Disney park downunder-lol.

Until then...I'll just have to be satisfied with Shanghai...

Oh and doing WDW in 37 days! (or is it 36?) Woohoo!

HE SAID YES!!!

Well just to clarify my DH actually said "Maybe..." but that means "Yes" to me-lol.

If there is a club trip to the new Shanghai park opening DH will let me (and maybe all of us) go along! I am so happy!

However there was a condition or two...No Disney trip next year (Doh!) and I have to do the planning (gee that'll kill me). Even if a great cruise special materialises I am not allowed to even consider it until the China trip money is fully deposited in the bank! So as you can already imagine I am budgeting out for my annual trip to the world for 2013.

And all this excitement and I forgot to do the happy dance at 30 days. So join me in doing the 21 day dance...woohoo!

:D I just laughed out loud at that comment - brilliant!

Awesome news - this gives us our first "confirmed" starter hehe.

It is a long way off yet, but I'm really looking forward to the opening - it may be the only time I ever go to Shanghai, so it might as well be with everyone else from the club :D

Finally some new concept art has been unveiled in a video featuring Bob Iger:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzlL-IPB0xg

You'll need to fast forward to 5:45 to see it, but here are the screen captures:

Image
Overview of the whole park - see skull rock on the right. A fancy Tomorrowland on the left. A covered shopping area at the park entrance similar to Tokyo.

Image
This is the main hub area in front of the castle, looking back towards the covered entrance area. It looks huge, spectacular and has a slight Mediterranean Harbour crossed with Fantasyland feel to it.

Image
This is a close up of the entry, you can just see the Mickey floral garden in the lower right.

This park will be brilliant - I can't wait to visit!
