Ground Breaking

Postby WayneG » Wed Feb 16, 2011 6:35 pm

Expect ground breaking on this exciting new Disney Resort early April. Should be interesting for those on the Hong Kong trip see what the news reports re like about the new resort when we are there. Only a short time till be get to see the artwork of the new Diseny Park. Expected to open 2015. A few years to save up for the opening.

And hot on the heals of the news that a ground break ceremony will happen in April, Disney today unveiled their first official (and deliberately obscure) piece of concept art for Shanghai Disneyland at their 2011 Investor's Conference:

I guess we'll see a lot more once April comes along. What we can tell from this picture though is that water plays a huge factor!

Well, now that the Hong Kong trip is over, we can begin reporting on Disney News again!

As you'd probably know by now, the Ground Breaking Ceremony for the Shanghai Resort took place on Friday and some new concept art released.

Here is a view of the new park:

The castle is called "Storybook Castle" - rather than being named after a single princess - it looks like a large modified version of Cinderella's Castle in TDR and WDW:

And here is another overview - basically a cleaned up version of the image we saw a month ago:

No more closer detail than that unfortunately - and designs often change once building begins - so we'll just have to wait and see what is in store for us!
