Lighthouse Point

Postby KeithS » Tue Mar 12, 2019 8:30 am

Disney announced today that they've completed the land purchase for Lighthouse Point in the Bahamas - paving the way for Disney's second private destination in time for the arrival of the new ships from 2021.  They intend to spend A$500 million on converting the 700 acres of land to a new private destination.

I haven't been there but are these resort/ports just mini, tropical themed, parks? Is there more to see and do than in the regular ports?

Castaway Cay is basically a serviced beach resort Greg. There’s activities to do like many ports, there’s a bar there’s exercise areas and they provide lunch for free on the island. You can do as much or as little as you like.

This new one looks like it’ll be a little bigger so it will be interesting to see what they do with it.

Yes - I'm looking forward to Lighthouse Point.. It still needs to get through the environmental impact study though and there has been a lot of opposition to it from the locals.  It doesn't look like it'll be ready when the first of the new ships arrives, so I guess we'll just need to go again another year :)
