Disney Magic Upgrade

Postby KeithS » Sat Apr 27, 2013 9:20 am

Disney have today announced all the enhancements and changes they are adding to the Disney Magic when it goes into drydock later this year. It looks like they are adding a lot of the new features and areas that they built into the Dream class of ships.

The Laughing Place have put together a terrific summary of all the new features which you can find here:

My DS reported to us that the Magic was going to dry dock for a makeover. Not quite what I thought I'd hear him say after returning from his second stint at the Oceaneer's Club-lol.

It seems Disney is employing some kid pester power to fill up the Magic after it's renovations! Anyhow they needn't have bothered - my family was hooked on day one. We purchased into DVC on the cruise and as we had already committed to DLR in 2014, we are planning on cruising and WDW in 2015. That means Shanghai will be 2016...I need another job (or two).
Past Disney vacations...

DLR - 1995, 1998, 2002, 2015, 2016
DLP - 1998, 2013
WDW - 2005, 2006, 2008, 2011, 2017
TDR - 2010, June 2012
HKD - 2010, Oct 2012, 2015
DCL - 2013,2015
Aulani - 2015
SDR - 2017

Just read that that DCL have cancelled 2 January cruises on the Wonder for work on the ship.

Imagine if you were planning to travel from Australia just for the cruise

The Disney Wonder is now scheduled for its major overhaul and re-imagining in September-October 2016, which will be immediately after the 2016 Alaskan sailings.

No formal announcement from Disney yet on what they'll change on the ship, however in all likelihood, it will be a similar upgrade to the Magic's rebuild last year.

Glenda wants us to do an Alaskan cruise in 2016 but she hasn't decided whether to do Disney or not. Having been on the Wonder before and now we are off in the upgraded Magic it's a shame we would miss the upgrades for the Wonder.
