Club Newsletter and publicity

Postby sandie » Mon May 01, 2006 5:52 pm

Boy are you guys gonna be sorry that I found this forum ( I guess if I din't talk so much in club meetings I would have found it earlier!)

I told Wayne that I would start helping him with the club newsletter and I have somegreat ideasbut something is really bugging me about this forum and that is that not many people post. I personally know at least 25 Disney enthusiast and I have a small circle of friends so there must be hundreds of them around that I don't know about!!!

Does anyone have any ideas on how to publicise this great website? I am going to hit my other newsgroups later tonight and ask any Australian members to contact me so I can refer them to have a look.

Maybe you should get up at the meeting and do a spiel keith? I promise not too heckle too loudly!

Cannot agree more, we need more people posting.

I've mentioned it a few times at meetings, and I think there are a few members lurking and not posting - we need to get these people attacking their keyboards! I'll be presenting an update on HK Disneyland at this weekend's meeting, I'll be sure to throw in a few comments about this site!

We really have to get it out to Australian Disney fans - I'm just not sure what is the best way to go about it.

My husband is always in forums to do with his hobby and he always said to me not to start as it would drive me nuts. He is right. I am an instant gratification type of girl-its killing me to wait a day to see an answer to my posts!!!!

Maybe I will give each group a bonus point in the trivia if they have posted in the forum! Do you think it would help if i did up a flyer to hand out?

Site flyer for next club meeting

Postby WayneG » Mon May 01, 2006 9:09 pm

Keith,

A flyer to give people about the club web site is a great idea. Please bring them the meeting on Saturday and we can talk to members about the site.
If you need me to organise photocopying please let me know by email.

I like the idea of a trivia point if you've posted in the forum - do you get one point for every post? That would give me 129 points (hand over the chocolates!)

Good idea about putting the flyer together (even if I got the credit!) - I am glad it wasn't my post though - the message mentioned a husband, and I definitely haven't got one of them!

Wayne, it is good to see you on the forum! I am downloading the NEW Pirates of the Caribbean 2 trailer right this second (pretty fortuitous timing). I will bring it along with Meet the Robinsons, and hopefully Eight Below (which played up at last meeting, so I didn't show it.)

Catch you all on Saturday.

ps. I just watched that new Pirates trailer - WOW!

Or you could just mail them up to Queensland.

Yeah yeah - thanks Sandie...(not only did we not win, we came dead last...no excuses, we just got smashed)

However, I think your new club newsletter looks awesome. The colour printing and layout look fantastic, and the website upgrade also looks great too (thanks Greg). Looks like we have had a lot of busy people!

Hi Sandie,

Can you please clarify this about the newsletter, (sorry sometimes I'm really thick) was one given out at the meeting prevous to pirates or did we have to pick it up at the door, and does this also mean that they wont be posted out to us anymore?

thanks

The one I did for last meeting (May) was just a trial- i wasn't even sure if Wayne wanted a newsletter done so I only printed 40. From now on I will be printing 90 and they will be posted.

Hi Sandie,

Just wondering if I can send you something to possibly go in the next newsletter. Caitlin had to do a 2 minute speech in front of her class at school and chose the Disneyana club, and our last Pirates themed meeting as her topic. She wrote it all herself, and would love it if you could publish it for all the club members to see.

Thanks Julie
