Thanks for the welcome guys. I am an Aussie working for Disney in burbank, ca and saw a write up about you folks while reading a newspaper online.

Let me know when you visit LA next and I will give you a tour of the Studio Backlot in Burbank.

Wow, thanks Kevin, that's a very generous offer. I'm in Pittsburgh PA at the moment but heading home to Sydney in time for the club meeting this weekend. It is a shame I can't change plans and pop over to LA for a quick catch up but I'll be there in August so might be able to head to Burbank then. Of course your offer could be dangerous given how many of our club members travel to LA!

You'll have to tell us how you ended up working there from Australia.

Yes you might regret that offer Kevin

Lol, how do I delete a post? I suppose we will have to see how many people take up the offer.

Oh if you guys are visiting Disneyland or California adventures and see a guy with a laptop with a bunch of disney stickers on it, come over and say hi. Now and then I take a break from the office and work down at the parks which is a lot of fun. I did it yesterday but it got too hot and busy so came back to burbank for the afternoon.

Is there a way with this forum to have it send me a digest of activity? At the moment I have to log in and navigate to the forum.

Also, Which section should we use for just chatting since I am way off the zootopia topic?

I know there are a number of members heading over to DL in August for the D23 Expo. Maybe they could coordinate a single catch up with yourself either in the park or up at Burbank. Among them is Wayne Godfrey who is the club president and I'm sure he would love to catch up.

As for a digest on this board, we did have that functioning in the past but recently it has become intermittent. The web administrator currently works in Laos, so his day to day maintenance here has been limited by his remoteness! I'll email him and see if we can get it back up and running.

Thanks again for checking in with us, we have quite a few friends that work or worked for Disney in the U.S. (and elsewhere) but you are the first Australian we know based there permanently.

The family will be going to D23 expo though I will probably head down to DLR instead, not sure at the moment. Fyi d23.com is one of my sites. I originally built the servers its running on and my team look after the site currently.

Would be happy to meet up with a group from here. A walking tour of the Burbank studios would take about an hour, maybe hour and a half. I cant show the inside of the sound stages but walking around the lot is fun and interesting specially for Disney fans. A lot of saving Mr Banks was filmed there. If you want to organize something for the group, contact me via my forum email address and we can see if we can work out something. Feature Animations may be back in their building by then (its being renovated) and the lobby of that is always fun to have a look at. They often show peeks at stuff they are working on, no photo's please :-)

Re Aussies working for TWDC, We met an Adelaide girl who was playing Jasmin in the stage show at DCA and she was the only Aussie I knew working for Disney. She moved onto a different show and I dont know what shes in now. I am sure there are others, its a big company.

Am loving working for the company, its a lot of fun with some great people and good corporate ethics.

Cheers Kevin. I'll be speaking with Wayne on Saturday night at the club meeting, so I will get him in contact with you via your email if he wants to head up to the Studio.

The D23 website is great - well done on having it work so well!

Glad to hear Disney is great to work for. Two of my best friends are long-term Disney cast members in Orlando (in fact they are coming with me on the Disney Wonder to Alaska in August) and they say the same thing about working there.

About to catch my flight to Dallas so I'd better log off now.

Hey Kevin - just a quick question about the D23 site - is there any future plan to allow us to log in using our standard Disney.com user ID? I note with the D23 site that we had to set up a separate ID and password solely for that site, whereas most other Disney websites use a single ID and password.

All I can say at the moment is there are some changes to the site coming. The changes may (or may not) relate to membership and logging in. :-)

Great office photo. My fiance will love Kermit and Miss Piggy on your phone!

The Red Car trolley model is cool too.

Thanks for sharing you little section of Disney with us :)
