Hello fellow mousers

Postby Jessica Fan » Sun Aug 01, 2010 2:07 pm

Hi there,

My name is Josie and both my husband and I are avid Disney fans. My first visit to the "Happiest Place on Earth" was back in 1996 and after remarrying, my new husband and I have been making the pilgrimage visit to Disneyland every 2 years since 2005. :D

Although we'd love to go to WDW in Orlando Florida someday, for now we're happy to get our next "Disney fix" in Anaheim as part of Disney's 2011 D23 Expo.

As always I can't wait and I hope some of you will be joining us in August next year! */

Cheers,
Josie

Welcome aboard Josie :)

You are in good company here with a number of our members having made the trip for the first D23 expo. Its something I'd love to do one day.

sounds like you and your hubby are seasoned Disney campaigners ... looking forward to hearing about some of your trip highlights.

Lisa.

Thanks Lisa,

Yes I hope to share many posts, chats and of course photos with you and other Disney fans here (and in person). It is such a wonderful experience visiting Disney, especially as it is constantly evolving into something bigger, and better EVERY time we go that there is always something NEW to report.

It still has me gobsmacked when I recall my first visit to Disneyland, having to take a shuttle bus to get from the car park to the entrance of the theme park (walking that distance was simply madness). Little did I know, that that car park was on Disney's drawing board soon to become Disney's Californian Adventure park!

Gosh I feel so old!

It's okay Greg, (thanks to Disney) the child in all of us will keep us forever young (well, that's my theory/excuse and I'm sticking to it) :D

Hi Josie - welcome to our little corner of the world - it's great to have another Disney fan join us!

I was lucky enough to go to the D23 Expo last year and it was brilliant. I'd love to go again next year but I don't see it happening :( so it'll be up to you to bring us all the exclusives! (We don't muck around in recruiting people for trip reports!)

I'm sure there'll be others from here going, although a lot of us are committed to Hong Kong next year for our club trip.

Anyway - good to have you aboard, and if you are ever in Sydney, you are welcome to come along to a club meeting.

Cheers,
Keith

Thanks so much Keith,

I feel like you're all family already, and I've only just joined!

I'd be more than happy to "report" on any Disney trip, share photos, news etc and both hubby and I would be thrilled (and will make every effort) to catch up with other Disney fans especially in our own country! That excites me just as much as the trip to D23 itself, thank you all so much. :D

Cheers,
Josie

Thanks so much Beth :D

By the way, love your tracker and monorail (hubby particularly loves these, and was a bit disappointed to see Disney had moved away from the traditional white with coloured strip duco, which I'm not sure won't return - guess we'll have to check that out next year). Although the themed images on the monorail are nice, I too prefer the more traditional looking people movers. Oh well...they still look good!

Cheers,
Josie

Hey Josie - as you are in Melbourne, have you booked tickets to see Mary Poppins yet?

Hi Keith,

No I haven't, but we're considering it. Are you (or other fans) looking to come down for the show? That'd be awesome! -/

Yes we do - there is a club trip heading down there for the Saturday September 11 evening performance. I think we have about 14 members going.

We'll probably be having dinner together beforehand if you want to join us - we haven't worked all that out yet.

Cool! :D

Wow 14 people; geez, if I had enough bedrooms in my home I would have gladly offered to put people up for the weekend but sadly I don't. :(

But if there is anything I can do to help, ie. make phone calls from here (re bookings) etc just sing out; I'd be happy to do what I can. There are lots of things to do in Melbourne (as you probably know) shopping, great restaurants and so much more.

Don't forget, (as with most major cities) there is a free bus service that runs in Melbourne's CBD which means if you're staying in one of the hotels you should be able to make use of it to get you to the theatre and back at no cost.

As I said, please do let me know if there is ANYTHING I can do to make things easier for you.

Cheers,
Josie
