You could always follow in the footsteps of the Egyptian woman on the news tonight. She already had 2 girls and wanted a boy and ended up with septuplets - 3 girls and 4 boys!

I had a 9lb 12 1/2 and he filled the cot in the hospital - he roared like a bull and the girl next me had some pipsqueaking thing that was about 5lbs. She'd ring her girlfriends up and say "you should see the size of the baby next to me"

OOohhh... I love birth stories.... (I'm sure the boys are enjoying this thread  )

I'm hearing ya Beth... When I had my first 7lb 11ozer I was a private patient so had a room to myself. By the time the 9lb 1 1/2 er came along, I wasn't and there was a baby boom in Horsham and had to share a ward with 6 other (very noisy, phone wielding) women.... One in particular I had met when in hospital having my first and then again - amazingly - when I had my second ( what are the chances of ending up giving birth at exactly the same time twice? ). We are firm friends to this day despite her having to have her 9lb 2 ozer the old fashioned way and her telling me over and over I wasn't allowed to whine about a thing cos I 'cheated' by having Caesars  .
She was about two foot taller and about a foot broarder than me... I didn't whine...

Ben was only 7lb2oz but his big fat head was in the 97th percentile  No wonder the little bugger got stuck! He had the cord wrapped around his neck twice which was actually why he got stuck, but the big-head story sounds better

Jess, labour and birth isn't all that bad, I reckon the stories afterwards always make it sound worse. Sure the pain is incredible but seriously, the minute I had Ben in my arms I felt on top of the world! I was so proud of myself and so much in love it made everything else pale into insignificance. Literally minutes after I had him I said to Craig "I can't wait to do that again!"

I noticed the boys have gone a little quiet on this thread  Perhaps we have finally found a topic that they can't steer towards cars :D

Oh the challenges that presents. You will notice that I did submit my vote on page 1. Luckily our kids were born on off race weekends. The eldest was born during an ashes test in England and it did interrupt the Sunday afternoon football. Another funny story, on the day before the christening of our eldest, I was playing cricket, we were batting, and I was told to come home as soon as I was out to tidy the house for the next day. As it turns out I hit my one and only century, and came home late, and got into big time trouble. BUT, I did what I was told, I got out ran off the field, jumped in the car straight away!

During the last 4 hours of my 43 hours ACTIVE labour to have Eloise (They couldn't find a doctor to get her out!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Peter kept going to his car to listen to the football. During my 3 hour labour to have John he first went and bought himself and the midwife a big bucket of KFC and then spent two hours on the phone trying to sign the future baby up to be the first memebr of the new St George Illawarra RL Team!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And all this will John ws in a Frank breach position and I had some Doctors arm you don't want to know where trying to turn him around!!!

LOL, I can totally understand where Peter was coming from! Ben was signed up as a Swans member three days after he was born. It only took that long because I didn't take the membership phone number into hospital with me and then it was the weekend :)

Craig was at the pub when my waters broke and I called him and said "I think I'm having the baby". He asked if I wanted him to come home and I said "Nah, it'll be a while". His mates couldn't believe it when, after the next few beers, he said "I'm off, Mel's in labour - gotta take her to the hospital!" To say we were a bit laid back about labour and birth is a bit of an understatement  I was right - water's broke at 11am and Ben was born at 2:27am the next morning. And no, Craig's not an alcoholic, he works night shift and goes to the pub after work sometimes

Is it wrong that I've been having dreams about tunnels and bowling balls lately?

Hehe - no, I just picked him up from the breeder...but as I'm about the only one here without kids (along with Greggy) - and I was kind of feeling left out of the conversation... :)
