I've just set up a whole lot (190) of avatars. The facility to upload your own is still there but I thought I'd give people a few that they can use. You can set it up by clicking on "profile" at the top of the page and then at the bottom of the next page click "show gallery". They're mostly Disney but there are a few others thrown in as well.

Thank you so much! I've been trying to find some avatars that have file sizes small enough to use, but I couldn't find any, and now I have one! Hooray! Thanks! :D

Thanks Greg, that's an excellent group you've put together.

I've select Jiminy until I can come up with one of my own.

Why did I pick Jiminy Cricket? Well, when I went to Disney's California Adventure last month, they had a program in the Animation attraction where you answer a bunch of questions and it tells you what Disney character you are most like...and well, yes - I was Jiminy...

Greg, is there any reason why my new avatar isn't working? I got one of my friends to make it for me, and it is exactly 80 pixels high and 80 pixels wide. It is 4.56 KB. Why isn't it working?

Why isn't it working?-James
I don't know James. Can you email it to me as an attachment so I can have a look?

My avatar is one I made and I was able to upload it without any problems. I'll have a play when I get home from work this afternoon.

I've had a play with a new user that I set up and I didn't have any problems uploading an avatar so I'm at a bit of a loss to explain what may have been the problem.

James, email me the avatar you're having problems with as an attachment to calisota@dudisneyana.info If I can't figure out what the problem is then I should at least be able to do it for you through my administrator account.

I just sent it to you Greg. It's of Cadet Kelly, the popular movie shown on the Disney Channel, and is being released to DVD in the US.

Ranks

Postby KeithS » Mon Jun 27, 2005 7:51 pm

Hiya Greg, do you intend adding message posting ranks to this board?

If so, we might need some input from everyone to come up with ideas for them.

Hiya Greg, do you intend adding message posting ranks to this board?
I had thought about it but put it on the backburner. It's easy enough to set up, in fact I just did it, sort of. I made up some quick and nasty Donald icons to use for the moment but if anyone has better ones or knows where I can get better ones just let me know. At the moment I'm the only one to show them (5 donalds) as the site admin.
If so, we might need some input from everyone to come up with ideas for them.
We need the names for 5 ranks and how many posts are needed to move up to each rank.

0 - 50 "new"
51 - 100 "not so new"
101 - 250 "a lot older"
251 - 1000 "really really old"
1001 - 10,000 "might as well be dead"

for instance. :D

haha 1001-10000 should be "We need a life..."

I'll have a think about it this week and see if I can come up with some ideas now I know the post numbers.

The post numbers are just examples as well. We can put in any ranges we want, not just the ones I suggested.

After I made that post I went back and changed the ranges to 0 -10 - 20 -30 -40 so that everyone would get a Donald or two. I do like "we need a life" though. :D

Nobody has any ideas on rankings?

I just need to know about 5 different "names" and the number of posts needed to reach each rank. There must be some Disney related ranking system we can use.

Here's an idea Greg - how about using the old Disneyland ticketing system?

Newcomers could be A-Tickets - and old timers would be E-Tickets, with B, C and D in between?

That will give us five rankings to work towards. I haven't seen this used in other Disney sites (at least not the ones I frequent!)

I don't know about the post counts yet, that will depend on how busy this board gets. The current level is okay while we have just a few members, but we may have to widen it a bit as we become more active.

Happy to hear other ideas on this. There must be plenty of rankings we could come up with.
