First off I better say how much I've been enjoying the never ending story, especially when I got to go to Stars Hollow. Since the series ended

I'm at a bit of a loss for a Lorelai fix outside of the confines of my own head and you don't want to know what happens in there.

But I actually have another subject to bring up.

How about a Disney wiki?

I mentioned this as an idea a while back and got a kind-of-positive response and went ahead and put some software on the site but then had to remove it because it was so buggy and allowed the site to be hacked. For some reason the idea re-occured to me last night so I had a bit of a google and only managed to find these sites that have attempted the idea.

all of which either seem to be dead or languishing.

Could it be done better?

I would see it as a seperate thing from the club pages which would help to attract contributers who are not Australian as such.

I think it is a great idea - quite often the info on some of those pages is wrong!!!!!!!!

At the risk of preempting anyone else's opinion I have bought a couple of domain names just in case. Some variations were already taken but this is what I got.

mickywiki.info
mickypedia.info
disney-wiki.com
disney-wiki.net
disney-wiki.org
disney-wiki.info

The name of the site would obviously be reflected in the URL and vice versa.

Well, I've been playing with it most of the day and the MickeyWiki is up and running at http://www.mickeywiki.info

Have a look, ignore the fast and furious logo for the moment and tell me what you think. There is:

The wiki
calenders
blogs
image gallery
forums
articles
link directory
file directory
faqs
surveys
a live chat function (which may appeal to a few)
and a number of other things that I am still playing with.

Just visiting the page lets you look at things but not participate. If you register (a link under the login box on the right) then you have a lot more functionality. You can create a blog, write articles, change/create the wiki pages, join the forum etc.

I don't see this as competition in any way for the Dudisneyana site as it would be there for anyone in the world to participate in and may even attract and drive traffic to dudisneyana.info. This just has the potential to be a collaborative site that could become a depository of Disney info.

Opinions please.

If you think it's a goer and want to become a part of the admin team just let me know.

I'll happily l help out - I am pretty tech savvy but may need a few quick lessons.

I think hosting scheduled live chats would be fun - it bugs me that all teh good US ones happen when I am either asleep or at work!

Ok... after a quick look these are my first thoughts (keeping in mind that wookies still make more sense to me than wiki's)

I thought that looked good.... its in keeping with the idea that the info is constantly moving....

What it really needs is Disney smilies.... you know... with the Mickey ears on them etc.... or other character faces...
