Member pages/articles on the site

I'm just investigating ways of letting members have their own pages on the site. Something like "Keith's movie reviews". We could have a scrapping page, movie reviews, etc.

Anyone interested?

Sign me up - sounds like a great idea. More interactivity where we get to add content would be great (as long as there is some form of control/self discipline I guess - there is always a danger of things going wild on the Internet!)

What got me thinking was Handicam's video review.

How it would probably work is giving people who are interested a login and then they could write and update their own pages. Any submissions would have to be approved by me first, just to prevent spam and to "keep the discipline". I'm certainly not looking to edit or censor anything.

I'll keep tinkering with the mechanics today but hopefully should have it sorted pretty quickly.

Okay, I've got it figured out, all I need now is a guinea pig to try it out.

Who wants to be the first person to have their own content page on the site? Just send me a private message and I'll set it up and give you all the instructions. It's really pretty simple to do.

Hi Greg, I was going to volunteer, but the more I thought of it, I realised I don't have that much content to offer (that I don't already offer through the forum). If I think of a good thing that I can regularly update, I'll sign up for a page.

I wonder if Sandie would want one to create an archive of club newsletters in .pdf format, or if Wayne would want one for his meeting updates etc...or maybe Lisa could do a regular scrapbooking update with pictures etc...

But I don't know how to do HTML. My husband does but I'd have to be extra nice to him to get his help.

The beauty of this is that you don't need to know html at all. You get a screen that looks exactly like a word processor and, if you want, all you need to do is type the text and click save. If you want to get fancy then all the buttons are there to alter the fonts, colours, add pictures etc. Really, really easy.
