Disney craft

Postby mushu mama » Tue Feb 20, 2007 2:06 pm

Just thought I'd ask if, other than Scrapbooking their Disney photos, is anyone working on other Disney craft projects at the moment?

I'm in the planning stages of a Disney bracelet using glass Mickey and Minnie Beads that I bought from a bead designer in Adelaide. She made a one-off batch of these beads and I was the lucky one that saw them..... its a mix of black glass mickey head icons, Mickey and Minnie 'parts' and spacers that are 'disneyfied'. I have come up with a couple of designs, but am not sure if its quite right yet. Am toying with the idea of attaching a pressed coin I bought in TDL - not sure though.

I asked her if she could do any other characters and Hey Presto, I was the lucky (albeit, then broke) owner of a set of Donald/Daisy/Huey/Dewey & Louie beads, which I am yet to even think about using.

I'm very tempted to learn how to make these glass beads - its a type of lampwork I think.

I am also in the 'gathering stuff' stage of making a tin to keep park name badges in because I intend getting one everytime I visit a park - no harm in thinking big
I saw this done on 2peas and loved it so will be scraplifting that one.

and NOW, I want to make a canvas for my pins to live on. But not sure what form that will take yet.

And I have the pieces of Mickey & Minnie rag/primitive dolls cut out to make (one of my closest friends is a doll artist who regularly has her primative crows & dolls showcased in the Homespun magazine and she is teaching me how to do this, we drafted the pattern etc- even if she so does not 'get' Disney...)
I also have plans to make others if the first ones work (Donald, Daisy, Pluto, goofy?)

I think that will be enough to keep me out of mischief...... :D

So is anyone else out there a serial crafter?

When I get these projects finished, I'll put them in the Scrapping photo album.

Pin canvas

Postby mushu mama » Fri Feb 23, 2007 1:16 pm

I FINISHED IT

My first pin canvas is in the scrappers photo album. :D

And yes... I know its crooked
and no.... I'm still not happy with the quality of the scan....

but its there....

Making this was so much fun I've decided to do 3 more of these mini canvases and group them on a wall somewhere near my computer.

Next one is a Disneyland one.

Sandie, Isn't there a program that you can use to convert photos to cross stitch patterns? I'm pretty sure I've read about one, no idea where to get it though.

Lisa - I love the canvas - I have a whole box of these in my shed - they didn't sell very well in my EBAY store - I might make a couple of pin boards too when I have a spare afternoon!

Hey Lisa, that does look pretty cool! I'll have to show Della as her pins are confined to pin bags at the moment and it is a great way to display them.

Whats this?... whats this?

Corruption in the ranks......

Actually Sandie... I think Keith is still hoping that your Cricut machine DOES start doing stuff that Jack Bauer could save the world with....... (sorry Keith.. it does have bells and whistles but nothing that fires any kind of explosive )
or maybe its the lure of the ric-rac, buttons and delcious doodlebug cardstock....

or maybe its the Disney Princess stickers :D

I think we can allow him to indulge his inner scrapper

And if you are still thinking about that cross stitch pattern after 3 trips, you had better get it this time - thats a lot of years to be thinking about a craft item... it must surely be classes as a need now rather than a want.....

That machine looks pretty dangerous as it is. I think Jack could make some use of its slicing abilities:

(In Jack's screaming interrogation voice) "Tell me where the bomb is! Tell me where the bomb is or I'll slice a cross-cut pattern in your chest, attaching a sequence of jolees and finishing with a layer shrinky-dinks!"

"No! Pleese Meester Bauer - I tell everythink - everythink you need - just don't scrapbook me! Noooooo..arrrrgghhhhhhhhh!!!"

Keith, are you sure you haven't been moonlighting as a script writer for 24?

That sounds pretty much word for word......

Hmmmm........... Death by scrapbooking.... you wouldn't be the first male to consider that a possibility.. :D

Imagine being jolee sequenced....

Della thought my folder containing the park maps was my first step towards heading down the scrapping path...she was wrong :)

something new in the scrapping file

Postby mushu mama » Fri Apr 06, 2007 8:35 pm

As I have just started teaching at my LSS I was given a blank "L" Chipboard monogram to be used as a name badge and asked to decorate it as I wish. The only stipulation was that it needed to reflect my personality or passion.

So it was really tough to decide what theme to decorate my name badge with. :D

I made a Mickey "L" and will probably make more as I go along - sort of like scrapbooked jewelry.

I've uploaded a photo into the scrappers file if you want to take a look.
