Scrapbooked Autograph Books.

Postby mushu mama » Mon Mar 10, 2008 7:44 pm

Has anyone attempted their own Autograph book construction for a Disney trip?
I'm thinking about cutting cardstock into uniform sizes ( in appropriate colours for various characters perhaps) and putting an eyelet in the corner and then threading them onto a large ring closure. As I track down characters, I can then ask them to autograph the appropriate page. Then when I get home I'll thread some ribbon or something through the eyelet and put each autograph on a page with a corresponding photo of the character ( hopefully with me in the shot too :) ) when I get home and have the time to do it properly.
Another friend told me about something they had done... they took a heap of sharpie pens in different colours also strung on a large ring, and then the autographs were done in the colours that were appropriate to the character, on white cardstock. I like that idea too.

It's easier to buy the autograph book. They now come with a photo insert page on one side and the character signs the other side.

My friends that have just arrived home from DL brought one of those home complete with autographs but they didn't like the slide-in photo pockets so they spent an inordinate amount of time removing those pockets with undu glue remover and let me tell you... I'm so not doing that.

besides... I never scrap easy :)

I side with Anthony on this one - I love the park autograph books. They are beautifully presented and the covers are updated every couple of years.

If you go to Paris however, their autograph books suck...

Still, a nicely scrapped, home made book will get a lot of comments - especially from the Princesses...

HOLD THE PRESSES... WE HAVE IT IN WRITING.....

A) that it'd take princesses to get you scrapping.... and

B) that you would already have a secret stash just waiting for the opportunity... I bet you already have that cardstock and those sharpies packed in your case huh?

Ahhh.... but its already too late.... 8) (Bwaaaahhhaaaaa)

We all know Keith can't resist a princess..... :D

let me illustrate....

[Cinderella] "Keith, why don't you stand in the photo with me so you can scrapbook this photo of us when you return to your home?"

[Keith] (Keith with a far away look) "Of course Cindy, your wish is my command"

I rest my case...

B to your question the kids and I each bought smallish 7 Gypsies spiral bound brown books, we decorated them with a sticker of our favourite character and put our names on with rub ons. I then Crystal Laquered them. The pages where thick, the characters knew our names and they were sturdy - and I hate those albums with the photo sleeves!

They sound great Sandie, I'd love to see them - can you post some pictures in your album one day?

I quite like the Disneyland autograph albums except for the photo sleeves. My friend who has just returned from DL felt the same way and has gone to excruciating lengths to remove them. she has an inordinate amount of time testing various ways to remove them on the pages at the back. The best was copious amounts of undu glue remover - good thing she owns the scrap shop cos she went through heaps. I didn't see if it left marks or not.
