Just posted an item on the news page about the closing of the Disney animation studio in Sydney.

It's going to put a lot of people out of work and is not a good sign for anyone who is a fan of real hand drawn animation. :(

I saw this article today too and thought it was very sad. Not just for the people who work there (and we know some of them) but also for Disney 2D animation as a whole.

Sydney was the last 2D Disney animation studio left.

The Pooh movies continue to be made in Japan, but they are outsourced to a third party production company. I wonder if Disney will continue to produce 2D movies at all (even direct to video now seems threatened by this.)

I guess it is a case of computers killing the hand drawn.
