New Disney Animation App.

Postby mushu mama » Sat Aug 17, 2013 7:55 am

Just saw a review of a new app that is coming out this week called Disney Animated. Its the collaboration between Disney Animation and a UK based company the name of which now escapes me who were given unprecedented access to the entire Disney animation processes and took 200 people to make.

It goes through every detail of the animation process of EVERY movie done by the studio from Snow White onwards and looks truly amazing for those who love the tiny details of the 'how its done'. Just from the bits I saw, it lets you scroll through different colour palettes for every movie and explore how they show the characters emotions and you can alter them in a similar way. Looks awesome, if a little exy at $17... from what little I've seen, it looks worth the money.

Definitely worth a look for animation buffs.

You know - I've been looking at this app and it is so full of awesomeness, that I am tempted to buy an iPad just so I can view it! That is how impressed I am with the app.

(Right now, Greg is yelling out "Traitor!")

Actually Greg has been a little quiet lately. Could it be that he is too busy, maybe no reliable Internet or perhaps Keith he has already seen the light and is too embarrassed to reveal his great joy after all his disparaging comments!

Or maybe it is time for me and Greg to get iPads because they are no longer cool. Apple used to be what all the cool kids used, but now Samsung has taken the lead (and the latest marketing surveys, phone sales, and their newest TV commercial underlines that).

So if Greg and I want to remain uncool - we should buy iPads :)

Seriously though - this app is unbelievable. Take a look at the story on it below:

Of course - if you want a poor man's version of it, just check out the amazing relaunched Disney Animations Studio website and the history section here:
http://www.disneyanimation.com/studio/our-films
There is all sorts of goodness on their website :)

I did it. I bought an iPad just to use the Disney Animated app.

What a loser I am...Disney - you owe me big!

(Of course, this now officially means that the iPad is not cool anymore!)

Welcome to the rebel alliance Keith.
I always associated Apple with The Empire - you know, those storm trooper outfits in their perfect white do look very Apple-ish. And the iPad comes in either shiny black (like Darth Vader) or shiny white (storm trooper) - by golly, I think I'm onto something here!!!

Brilliant!

And talking about brilliant - the Disney Animated app is fantastic. There is just so much content - I'm having a lot of fun exploring it.

I too am tempted to buy an ipad simply to get to this app. My daughter (15) has her heart set on becoming an animator (ideally with Disney/Pixar - no point in dreaming small) and I think this app would be hugely interesting to the whole family. We have a iPad 1.0 but I think you have to have a 2.0 at least.

Hi Stitchintime. This app is remarkable and if your daughter is really interested in Animation, it may well be worth the purchase. It really goes into depth into the animated movie process, from story development, right through to post production and marketing and all the processes in between. I sit and play with it regularly and there is so much detail to read and discover.
