Sad news this week - especially for fans of the Pooh series, with the passing of the voice actors of Tigger and Piglet - Paul Winchell and John Fiedler. Both gentlemen were in their 80's and passed away within 24 hours of each other.

Paul Winchell, the voice of Tigger, was also known for his work as Dirk Dastardly (among others). His last Tigger recording was for the "Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" ride at Disneyland. He was hired for 1999's "The Tigger Movie" but was replaced by Jim Cummings after production began. He first voiced Tigger in 1968's Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day.

John Fiedler, the voice of Piglet, was also an accomplished actor featuring in movies including True Grit with John Wayne. He continued voice acting for Piglet up until his death, and will soon be heard locally with the release of "Pooh's Heffalump Movie" that opens tomorrow, 30 June. His final appearance as Piglet's voice will be in the direct to DVD release of "Pooh's Heffalump Halloween - The Movie", which will be released in the US on September 13 this year.
