Cars 3 ( could be spoilers)

Postby mushu mama » Sun Jul 16, 2017 7:11 pm

How good is this movie!!!!
I had zero expectations after the second mish mash, but oh my, this was really getting back to its roots and so well done.
Loved it with a capital L.

This is good to hear, I seemed to be in the minority in how much I liked the first one and in the majority in how disappointed I was in the second.

It doesn't open here until Aug 10 but I'll be away so I hope it'll still be showing when i get back.

It opens the same day as Dark Tower, which may be a disappointment going by the previews.

It is definitely worth seeing... they animation has been kicked up a notch (if thats possible) and it has great ties to the original. I took my nephews ( 8 and 9) and while they are well indoctrinated to Disney ( I've done my job well) I can honestly say I've never seen these kids more engaged with literally every part of this movie.

It was good.  The story was lacking for me.  Too much of the original in there.  Animation was superb.  Really the best I've seen I think.  My former little Lightning McQueen obsessed kid was really adamant he didn't want to see it after that horrible first trailer, but he enjoyed it.  Not as much as the first though.  I don't think there was enough made of the rivalry.  The LM v Chick Hicks in Cars 1 was a lot more fun than the LM v Jackson Storm in 3.

I can't even imagine how that could be, although after seeing War for the Planet of the Apes I'm wondering just how much more realistic it can get, especially the closeups of the Ape faces. So much genuine character and emotion.

Is this the first time a real race car has been done up like this? Seems like a really obvious and cool way to advertise the movie.

It is the first time I can remember that a real race car has had livery similar to that in the movie.  They've had plenty of race cars with Cars advertising on them - but they were just like movie poster advertising, rather than an attempt to look like the actual Cars vehicle livery.

I agree with everything you said. Animation was amazing to the point where the Cars themselves are almost out of place in such a photo realistic background. The Jungle Book proved that you can seamlessly put real humans in a computer generated world now.

As for the story, i could see what they were trying for but they didn't quite hit the mark. They certainly underutilised the characters of Radiator Springs which had been a major part of the charm of the first one.
