Well, I took my daughter to see this tonight and have to say that
I loved it......
Not entirely sure that these are kids movies anymore, but for me, it was a veritable smorgasbord of visually tasty stuff. I laughed all the way through - there were a lot of kids in this sitting and I'm sure most of them didn't get a lot of the jokes. Even the majority of the adults only got the most obvious of the 'planted' stuff.
Donkey didn't set the world on fire in this one ( although his Dronkey kids were super cute) and the best lines were stolen by Puss in Boots. What a charmer. Something about that honeyed voice he purrs with. He out-funnied the donkey by a long shot.
Loved the music ( particularly the treatment of the Beatles song "Live and let Die"), and the animation was first rate as always. In fact, this one, for me, was a close second to the original. With the second installment coming in 3 on my list.
And I just love that cat.....
I hope they keep making these, I was not at all disappointed. Course, it might just be that I have a warped sense of humour and thats why it appeals.
They showed the trailer for "Bee Movie" which is as Speilberg/Jerry Seinfeld movie that I'd never heard of before. Not real sure what I think of that yet. Its about a bee that can talk to a florist. ( this might be just me, but that seemed a little 'Ratatouille' to me) Now I could get shot down in flames for this, but I am not a huge fan of Seinfeld, so it was a bit "Meh" on my scale.
Anyone else seen Shrek 3? What did you think?
