Universal announcement this week

Universal Studios in Florida have called a press conference for 1st August to make an "Epic" (their words) announcement.  It seems highly likely they will announce the building of a new theme park at their Florida complex.  Construction has been underway in a vacant block of land for some time and I guess their timing is set to steal some of the thunder from Disney's expected announcements at D23 later in August.

Rumours of the new park include another Harry Potter universe land - this time based on Fantastic Beasts series, as well as a Nintendo-based land.

I'll guess we'll know in a couple of days time!

Yeah - the unveiling of their new park was pretty much an anti-climax.  The new park is called Epic Universe - but they didn't release any further information other than a single vague piece of concept art.  It does appear to show a Nintendo section, and haunted area, and a Fantastic Beasts area, but it is really vague.  Like I mentioned earlier - it looks like it was timed to steal the limelight from D23 so it was probably released earlier than they were hoping to.

Speaking of D23 - it is only two more weeks away
